What did the physical training look like each day? Were there routine workouts you would do each morning? Also, do you have contact (either over the phone or in person) with any loved ones during the training?
@StudentPhysicianNetwork3 жыл бұрын
Workouts were very mild. You typically work for like 30-40 min every other day and could be a run, or stationary exercises. It was very low intensity unless you aren't a very athletic person you shouldn't struggle much.

I have a question, i am currently getting ready to apply to medical school and take my mcat and i am really considering hpsp but i dont know what branch to pick because bc as a doctor in the militarily i dont want to be stuck in the hospital but i want to be "in combat or front lines" and i dont know exactly what" job" as doctor i need to be looking for in the militarily ?
@StudentPhysicianNetwork4 жыл бұрын
I would say Army would have more opportunities to be closer to combat than airforce. However, as a doctor you wont typically be in combat at all. That is more of a medic role (but there are opportunities though). I would recommend looking into Army HPSP and going into a GMO role if you're really itching to be closer to combat otherwise reevaluate whether you want to be a doc and look into a medic role ( which is more like an EMT)--not sure how to go that route though.

Kelsey Pruitt hey thanks for watching! Really any black back pack is ok. I had an Oakley one that I wore from school. You really only use it to carry your class materials. Hi there! I’m hoping to be a military doctor some day in the future, and I wondered, what was your undergrad GPA and MCAT score to be accepted into the HPSP program?
@StudentPhysicianNetwork6 жыл бұрын
So I had a 507 MCAT. If you get at least a 505 and no less than 125 on each section you automatically get accepted. You need at least a 503 and no less than 123 on each section to get interviewed for a spot. My GPA was 3.8 but I think a 3.4 is a qualifier for automatic acceptance while 3.2 is the minimum! Dont forget to subscribe!

Densestlemon Densestlemon that may be misleading. I think a more accurate term is pre approved. But that's how it happened for me. I didnt have to go through an application process and It seemed like i was automatically accepted. I also was accepted into school way early compared to most people so perhaps that was a factor too!

Hello great questions! For COT they were transitioning from 5 week class to the full 10 week course. And yes prior enlisted were still required to go through the entire process! As for people who are afraid of heights yes I had some in my flight and they did overcome their fear of heights to do some mild height obstacles, but nothing crazy.

@StudentPhysicianNetwork6 жыл бұрын
Jay Rathod the initial PT test isn't too bad as long as you've been working out at least a little bit. I would make sure you can do at least 40 push ups, 40 situps, and run 1.5 miles under 12 min to be safe. Otherwise try for 50,50, and under 11 min, that got me in the 95 percentile

What’s the “getting yelled at” like? I’m not trying to sound like the stereotypical young guy, but I don’t tolerate any level of disrespect. Now I’m sure that the director above you isn’t being disrespectful in any way, but I still don’t really know how well I would receive it lmao

So they'll never attack you personally while yelling but they are more likely to yell about your actions and yell commands to fix them. Its more about correcting your actions than yelling at you as a person

I was hoping maybe I'd be the one who got to hit the big red button for one of those drone strikes that kills dozens of innocent Muslims, it looked so fun! jokes (are they though?) aside, I don't think not tolerating disrespect is disqualifying of any job. obviously, it's clear that I didn't mean I would snap uncontrollably at the smallest level of criticism, but screaming in the faces of people to prove your dominance over them is just rude, unnecessary, and dehumanizing. But hey, it has been the USA's practice to dehumanize their soldiers to get them to do whatever they want.

DJ, Your videos are very informative, especially considering I cannot find much information on this scholarship program with the education center on base. I was curious, do you know of a centralized location on the internet that has all the information on this program? This definitely seems like the smart thing to do in order to prevent debt, but I wanna make sure I make the right choice. Thanks in advance! JLaw

Hey James; glad these videos are a help. There is an HPSP factsheet online that I will provide the link to at the bottom of this comment. It is helpful, but it only seems to discuss the positives for HPSP. There are potential drawbacks of HPSP that I have addressed in prior videos, but not to the extent that I would like. I will be putting up a video on that information later. The important thing to realize is that this program is not for everyone, so, you need to take your time to deterine if this is the right path for you. I would try to talk to people in the program that are attending your medical school or the school you will be attending. Stay tuned and don't forget to subscribe! www.airforcemedicine.af.mil/Media-Center/Fact-Sheets/Display/Article/425437/hpsp-fact-sheet/

Hi! Super awesome video! I may, or may not make it to COT this summer (depending on when/if my contract and necessary paperwork go through). However, will they let you know before hand if we will need to purchase the ABU or the new OCP uniforms that are being phased in and are in use at some bases state side? Again, great video and I cant wait to officially be 2nd LT!
@StudentPhysicianNetwork5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! As for your question, they may let you know, but if you dont find out they will take a group to buy your uniforms, supplies, etc. I would call the altering store at Maxwell and ask if they've transitioned to OCPs for Officer School! If you're in HPSP you could also send an email to Kelly Adams and ask! Hopefully that was somewhat helpful! If you have any other questions I'll try to get back to you as fast as I can! Good luck LT!
