In Memoriam: HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh: 1921 - 2021.
The Last Post
The "Last Post" is either an A or a B♭ bugle call, primarily within British infantry and Australian infantry regiments, or a D or an E♭ cavalry trumpet call in British cavalry and Royal Regiment of Artillery (Royal Horse Artillery and Royal Artillery), and is used at Commonwealth military funerals, and ceremonies commemorating those who have lost their lives in war.
Reveille
"Reveille" is a bugle call, trumpet call, drum, fife-and-drum or pipes call most often associated with the military; it is chiefly used to wake military personnel at sunrise. The name comes from réveille (or réveil), the French word for "wake up".

The Royal Marines are playing in such awesome unison that it sounds like only one bugle! Interesting to see that one is the State Trumpeters is a woman and so is one of the Royal Buglers! The resonance of the empty chapel is beautiful!

Why amazng to see two are women? Women have played a part in our Armed Forces for over 100 years and rightly take their place in all roles in our military, including now the Infantry. I'm ex RAF through and through, but the Royal Marine bands are the best around and contain quite a few women.

@sprason1963

Yes, the Army are fantastic. Royal Marines are not "Army" though! They are the Royal Navy's soldiers. Historically, members of the Royal Navy [until recently] had no requirement to swear the Oath of Allegiance to the monarch. The Royal Navy is not maintained under an Act of Parliament but by royal prerogative. This still applies for naval officers as, by nature of the Navy's authority deriving from the Crown and not Parliament, the loyalty of naval officers to the Sovereign is taken for granted. This does not apply to the Army and Royal Air Force. In the modern era - the royal prerogative, a.k.a. 'crown prerogative', assigns certain powers, rights, privileges, and immunities to the monarch or Crown which are today mostly exercised on the advice of government ministers. Nominally, the Navy answer to the Monarch, not Parliament.

AntPDC. - HRH Prince Philip’s Funeral Royal Marines & The State Trumpeters. - There’s one thing we the English get right is to do everything to perfection in an event such as HRH Prince Philip’s Funeral. . It was done to precision and this is what our cavalry do best. I watched with fixed eyes 👀 and was amazed at how they stood for so long without even moving their heads or bodies. They should be congratulated on being so immaculate.. The Trumpeters of The Royal Household stood with dignity and played every tune from their hearts ♥️. It was an honour to watch the ceremony go through it’s paces and every man/woman playing were so engrossed in giving a magnificent performance for all of us in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 and for the rest of the world 🌎 to see. Truly Magnificent !!!... . I couldn’t be more proud to be English on occasions such as State events. Thank You Anthony , for reminding me of a very sad but splendid day.

I'm not a huge follower of military bands and things like this but I was just wondering when "The Last Post" is being played, if there was a reason the trumpeter on the left end would kind of turn a little to the left after a few notes.

I might be biased but I think musically, Taps is more aesthetically beautiful to hear than the Last Post, probably because Taps feels more emotional. Nevertheless, this was a fine performance.
