Firstly - Protests like these are one reason construction projects overrun and go overbudget. Second - This Tunnel won't stop HS2. Third - Public Transport is one way of getting more vehicles off the road. And the better public transport is the more people are likely to use it. Fourth - There are strict rules and regulations concerning the environment when it comes to construction projects - I am not sure what the regulations are however but I do know HS2 is following them (I work in rail construction so, from time to time I do 'hear' things). Fifth - They are putting a burden and risk on our, already overworked Emergency service. Sixth - Its the taxpayer who'll end up footing the bill (how many of them have jobs I don't know). You don’t understand their logic because there is no logic. If they did at least 5 minutes of research, they’d see the environmental benefits, and how they are trying to make HS2 the greenest railway yet. And while they are doing all this to “help” the environment, they only environment they are helping is the one that let’s covid spread. Oh, and let’s not forget that when this tunnel collapses, they’ll be begging for help from a health service that is overstretched and doesn’t need nonsense like this to deal with. @alexnorth33934 жыл бұрын
Debatable though. Look at the science before saying that.
@TalesOfWar3 жыл бұрын
@@alexnorth3393 The "science" says exactly that. The point of this is to have a dedicated high speed line up the length of the country for frequent passenger trains to get from one end to the other. We currently do this on the West Coast Mainline (and East, but this is about the West) but it means those trains have right of way for the entire trip, despite them making only 3-5 stops the entire length of the country. Other traffic has to get out of its way which leads to much lower capacity on and around those lines. With its own dedicated track, the existing track and then be used for more frequent and reliable local services for commuting etc. Freight can also make use of the tracks as the speed difference between them and the commuter rail is much smaller than it is compared to the already relatively high speed inter city services, so the lag between one and the next train can be smaller from a safety stand point. It's a net win for everyone along the route as it takes traffic off the roads by providing more reliable, quicker local train services.
