The characters are both in Simplified Chinese. You wanted the top one to be traditional Chinese. Probably no one but me will notice. The 被 grammar construct happens to be one of the grammar points I am working on in class so I was paying attention, I watched it twice. I wish you were getting more views, I do want you to continue making videos. Have you thought about making a tour of the language schools and trying to integrate you videos with their curriculum so the teachers will record your videos as homework? I’m pretty sure Wen Zao would welcome you to present. It’s not just you Fiona Tian has the same problem, she used to get 20,000 views now 2000 is not happening. Isaac

I'm a native speaker and I don't see how 被 is mainly used negatively. It's just the passive form in Chinese. What's the source on that claim?

Hi I believe you misinterpreted me. 😊被 as a passive voice is often used when one encounters an undesirable event or an unwilling action, it is not used negatively. There are many examples, 被打了、被吃掉了、被发现了、被打破了。If you watch until the 2nd half of this lesson, I further give examples where 被 is used in a positive context. At least, this is the dominate theory in the field of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. Do share if you could provide a different and a better explanation to teach this construct to the non-native learners! 😉

Your chances of learning correct English grammar are infinitesimal if you watch American television. Even our newscasters, who were considered exemplary fifty years ago, make howling grammatical errors. These are native English speakers, after all, and should be held to a higher standard. Your English, I must say, is very good, even better than that of some of my own countrymen. Your efforts to expose others to your interesting language are commendable, and I salute you.
