Goo video 67 year old fellow.. I generally walk 20,000 steps a day but have been known to get up to 60,000 on occasions when in the hills. Exercises for distance walkers is probably exactly what I need

I just came to your channel Will, and I am very impressed. As a man turning 60 in 2024, I am focusing on the importance of keeping healthy as I age. I have lost over 50lbs this year with a goal of 40 more in the months ahead. I try to walk between 3.5 - 5 miles (weather permitting) daily, and have tried to manage a healthy diet (protein intake continues to be a challenge). I am pleased a few of the stretches you recommend I was already doing, so I must be on the right track. Health concerns for the over 50 population are growing here in the USA, (and I imagine also in the the UK), resulting in a strain on the healthcare system. The focus here is "aging in place", with the goal of keeping people out of nursing homes and in there own homes safely. The information you and others are providing will help in that effort. You now have another subscriber from the USA. Keep up with the useful information.

Thank you so much for these! Staying mobile/engaged is everything (to me)! I am 60, and having to take a break from dancing because of developing knee pain. I'm trying to work stretches and exercises of the supportive muscles into my days and get back out there. This will literally be the first time in my life that I get serious about stretching... for a start, I'm having to learn to continue breathing while stretching... I do wonder... at 7min (quads) you mention using something to lift the ankle... that's better for me at my current tightness. It means I don't have to raise the knee as high but can bring it back further, and I wonder which is better... higher (hand holding) but not able to bring the knee back as far, or lower (using a band) and I can comfortably bring it back further.... I'm gonna guess that the one I can make myself do regularly is the best 😀

Will, great video! I truly needed a walking/stretching exercise video. I've never heard of a soleus stretch or a soleus for that matter. I will definitely be including those into my stretching routines. Thank you.
