I almost cried watching the movie. I watched it twice and just had to read the true story the movie is based on and I was disgusted. The story spoke of nasty stuff that wasnt even in the movie. Im glad her and her kids are freed, safe and living while that monster rots in prison.

This movie made me very emotional. Very sad movie 😢. At the end of the movie when sara says to her boyfriend i thought about you every single day made me emotional because she was very young when she and her boyfriend were together and they meet again after 20 years. For 20 years she was tortured by her father and lived in a basement of their own house.

I was afraid to watch it because the story plot is so disturbing. It actually was well acted and worth watching.. Everyone did a very good job. I haven't watched Judd Nelson acting in a long time. He was so sinister and so far removed from bad boy, John Bender, a character who was worth rooting for.

Surprised they''re saying it's not inspired by a particular case because this is basically identical to the Josef fritzl story..

I watched this movie four times before coming to the Internet before speaking on it before bringing what I wanted to say to the media I’ve cried harder watching this than what I’ve seen in the world today that girl I just I don’t know if she will ever see this comment, but I cannot imagine cannot imagine the night the beatings the unbearable things he’s done to her as I’m writing this tears of fall and I just I can’t. I just can’t. I can’t write anymore just couldn’t believe it’s like we all felt her pain and to be hurt by somebody who brought you into this world I just, God sake man why why why why would you do that to her? Why would you not going to get into detail because from the comments? I think we all felt the same watching this movie I just couldn’t believe what I was watching and hurt piece of it all there’s somebody captive in a home nowLooks perfect on the outside can be the most deadliest place on the inside and I’m so sorry she had to endure that. I’m so sorry. Her first life of kids had to be at the hands of. I’m not even going to give him attention. I just wanted to say to her, she is strong you are resilient. You are the definition of strength, I wish I can. You didn’t deserve none of that. Wish you didn’t have to have that happen to you

An old lighthouse in a remote island in Greece....a captain turned lighthouse keeper his mentaly unstable wife and four daughters (two of them by his eldest) small garden with henhouse few goats and pigs supplementing looting shipwrecks......something between this movie and "Jamaica Inn".......in fact Daphne du Maurier may wrote something that Victorian puritanism forbate it to be as explicit

Ngl I liked the movie but it was the most emotionally draining movie I’ve ever seen. She did a great job playing a mom character and also an abused character. She sure does have guts to play the character. Idk if I could’ve lol. Also her and I have the exact same birthday so that makes me like her even more. Only difference is she is 5 years older than me.

1206 I see that! hah. Yeah real tough film to sit through. I was so angry when the neighbor failed to realize the light flashings were a call for help. The ending was a relief but still sad because so many years wasted and trauma she'll never fully recover from. ooof
