Stuff like tv screens werent ever a real thought in the devs heads until someone made it

Actually, redstone is extremely simple and atomic. Each component in a redstone contraption is pretty plain and insignificant in function. The complexity comes when you try to combine the different redstone interactive components into a single machine. The bigger the machine, the harder it becomes to make it work. Just like it is in real life: you wouldn't be scared by a piece of cable or a transistor, but trying to analyse the mind-melting complexity of a micro processor and the functions of it's millions of microscopic transistors is quite a challenge.

The reason building a calculator in minecraft is so hard is because redstone is very simple and general. This allows you to use it for a lot of things from piston doors, to traps to computers but makes it more complex, the more spesific funktions your build has. This is also one of many reasons why there are so many different playstyles in Minecraft; the game gives you simple tools, an Infininite World and unlimited time to use these simple mechanics to create complex and beautiful things.

4:29 When Minecraft is updated, the new features are going to feel like mods because they haven't been in the game before. People can have reasonable complaints about updates, but "this feels like a mod" isn't one of them. Also mods aren't bad either, it's just a pain to get them installed and compatible with each other, so if the game does that for you isn't that good?
@remor6982 жыл бұрын
I think there is a little more to it than just "any new addition will feel like a mod because it's new". It's something to do with Minecraft's design goals compared to any given mod's design goals and especially how the former have changed. Minecraft used to be just a sandbox. A very generalised foundation for you to build basically anything on top of in the literal sense, as well as in terms of lore, and easily make it fit in, because the player was the only one taking charge of that aspect of the world. Mods have always had less of that generalised approach and went more for getting a specific element into the game - tech mods, for example, creating an implied guideline for how fantastical or grounded the world is and what sort of a technological standard exists in it. There has been a slight, but still somewhat noticeable shift by Mojang towards making Minecraft less of an unwritten book and more of a forgotten tale. The world has a story to tell now, one that is still very open to interpretation, but there is a lot more specific elements on the board than there used to be. In order to make certain ideas blend into the existing world well, a player might nowadays find themselves forced to contradict and ignore the subtle, but established story telling of the vanilla world. That is an effect you expect to get from trying to play a modded world in a way different to the style of the mods, not what you expect from the ultimate freedom, which vanilla Minecraft is supposed to give. At least that's my take on why quite a few of the newer additions feel more like mods than vanilla features. Whether that's good or bad is entirely up to any given person's expectations. For anyone looking for a pre-existing, mysterious world to explore and get inspired by, it's great. But anyone looking to just do their own thing might find their own ideas clashing with the very world they inhabit and they have no ability to change that, as, unlike mods, you cannot just pick and choose which elements of the established setting you like or not.
@greenkingfisher2 жыл бұрын
@@remor698 fair point, with actual updates people don't get to pick and choose what they want, so it's reasonable to be disappointed with the updates, but the reasoning should be more than just 'its mod-like'. And some mods are the sort of thing that would never be added into the base game, but I guess what I'm saying is that every new update is something that could have existed as a mod before, not that every mod could become a new update.
@cannedbeverage76872 жыл бұрын
I think it's because for the longest time Minecraft mobs have had pretty janky looking animations, until semi-recently they started getting more "polished", " smooth", "detailed", etc. animations which used to only be in some mods. One of the first such mobs was the Strider. That's probably where the "mod-like" complaint is coming from, as it's what many said when the Strider was first implemented.
@B.L.U.S Жыл бұрын
Updates now feel out of place because they are making new things just so animated and expressive while your character walks like an r5 Roblox character I think Mojang could make an "feel alive update" where they woul update all animations I even have an idea to adapt the old player animations into more modern ones but equally emotionless like when falling you character just open it's arms and legs a little

Well to be fair, I’m not a fan of horror games, and the other day, at night, all lights off, I accidentally fell in an ancient city, and I was scared the hell off. And I’m 20 (but it was hardcore so there was definitely a part of stress, compared to when I play regular survival). So yeah, if a 10 years old kid ends up like me it can be a pretty scary encounter I think. But those cities are especially rare, and those kids aren’t mining machines like me, and I only found 1 city in all the time I played since the update. So it’s unlikely they’ll find one by accident that easily

No joke, my heart started pumping as soon as I noticed you posted a video of Minecraft. But anyways, Minecraft is a great game, and its only flaw is that its owned by Microsoft which is the biggest flaw a great game could possibly have and I hate Minecraft for it. Microsoft is trying too hard and I just wanna see my precious Minecraft being ripped from the hands of Microsoft and put in the hands of a company that is legitimately competent. Also Minecraft is dragged down by hackers, complete idiots, karens, and children making reviews and starting drama for the *lulz* Edit: God, I hate it when children make reviews, Its just so unnecessary and they'll just embarrass themselves...

I tried to crop out usernames as much as possible cause I realised they're probably all children, but at least it makes for some good content lol Microsoft, unfortunately, have way too much money. So they can buy the best selling game of all time if they want to and it'll be in their clutches forever more, so they can make shit decisions with it for as long as they feel like. Which sucks, but 1 dev making a crazy popular indie game is a perfect recipe for this to happen

8:29 Yes, Minecraft has tons of limitations. But this is precisely what makes the creative side of it so good. Having limitations FORCES you to get creative with how you do basically everything. The limitations are what make the awe inspiring creations so impressive in the first place. It adds a layer of accomplishment to your finished builds. It helps add to the feeling of, "I made this!" when you look at the finished product. Of course, I'm not at all saying that a sandbox game CAN'T be complex with a lot less limitation. The Geometry Dash level editor for example. It has a VERY steep learning curve and takes YEARS to master. But as a result, it has INCREDIBLE creative and expressive potential , and this is evident when you look at some of the best levels ever made. That and, you aren't forced to learn all of the most complex aspects of the editor to make a level. There are plenty of very simple objects that allow you to make simple levels if you have little experience. At the end of the day, it all comes down to how you actually design the game.

I agree on the redstone part, but there should be more items doing simple functional stuff, that are too simple, expensive or slow to replace redstone but offer similar funtionality for users not able to get that good with redstone. Maybe something like big doors, simple excavators . That way big tnt excavators and 3x3 doors are still an acomplisment, but you can get similar, but worse experinces with a single item.

Minecraft is VERY boring by itself. It's also pretty funky and weird including only blocks, floating tree physics, the weird crafting system, inventory spaces, punching trees (?_?), and villagers going hHHH every 5 seconds. Minecraft is only good for one thing... Mods. Modded Minecraft adds so much more to the game than what the actual developers of the game add. The developers are so lazy, releasing one update every year or two years, it's ridiculous.
@strakhovandrri2 жыл бұрын
About the end goal: It isn't a feature that is seen too often in sandbox games, and, honestly, I think that if it's here it should be pretty vague, like accumulating enough wealth to beat a challenge (Factorio, The Forest, Minecraft too). However, for hardness sake, they should present a constant challenge. City builders would be far less fun if the cities were inert, sewers weren't failing all the time and population complaining about no jobs/bad roads etc. Minecraft lacks this challenge. You can stay still, not giving any thought about development in game, because there's nothing pushing you to it, and it works fine when build because you want to and there are some goals to reach, but it falls apart when goals are met. The game becomes stagnant, and suddenly you literally have nothing to do except amuse yourself by your means only.
@twintalks87742 жыл бұрын

@Dhalin2 жыл бұрын
Some city builders (coughSkylines) are way too ridiculous, though. In Cities: Skylines, you need a PhD in city planning to ever have a hope of succeeding at the game, because it is way too damn picky to be able to build anything but a small town before the traffic woes kick in and you have bodies piling up in the city or something else ridiculous. You can actually recreate actual real-life towns in Skylines and traffic will come to a standstill even though this doesn't happen in RL.
