This is my kind of show handy guys who are not afraid to get their hands dirty. Interesting old cars. Who does not love vw. Had a 64 i. I drove it all night thru the terrible 43 inch Chicago storm of 1967. Only other car I saw moving that night was another bug that passed me.
@peterduxbury9275 жыл бұрын
Just imagine the good condition that the VW's were in when they were 'dumped' there 40 years ago. I bought a '71 from a Car Scrapyard as a burnt-out wreck (Engine Fire). I spent a year and $14K to bring it "back from the dead". That was 15 years ago. Beetles (the most iconic vehicle on earth) grow on you. Today, my Beetle is part of the family. Looks brand new - and has been kept original - other than the Wedgewood Blue and Gray Leather Seats. Many of your viewers are like me, a lifelong love affair with a car? Sounds ridiculous but true. You guys do a great job. If you feel that these pair of Beetles are beyond Economic Repair, pass them on...... There are many people out there that love the challenge to restore, and turn that rust - into gold!! Greetings from Australia.

I just discovered this youtube channel today. I've already watched 3 videos. Its raw, real & not over produced. I love what you guys are doing with these vehicles. I wish I was capable of doing this sort of thing. I'd love to repair & save old cars, but I just don't know enough about it. In fact I know nothing about mechanics or car value (except I know all those VW's are worth way more than $750). But these kind of videos make me want to go to mechanic school even though I'm in my 40's. Oh yeah it was pretty cool that you gave the guy an extra $250 cause he obviously had no idea what those VW's can be worth.
@MUN.A19882 жыл бұрын
Tery you're absilutely have the right to say that. I am in62 and I've said that before..really if you can go to a mechanical shop, don't be late..it just one year or less then you can do your soecial shop to practise your hoppy since you still in 42years old.

With the Beetles it's a case of welding in support braces for the body to keep its shape, unbolting what is left of the body and separating the body from the floor. Two new floor pans and two heater channels replaced in th body. Floors are easy to do and the cars appear to be solid. Well worth the bargain $750. I've restored many beetles and buses in my younger years. Great find!

Nice find! All the bits you need including floor pans and sections are available and not as expensive as youd think. My old 1300 67 Beetle (Named DakDak coz thats the sound she made) was close to as bad as the floorless wonder and after a pressure wash and molasses bath n disassembly she stick welded right up as good as new.

I just finished body repair on my bug and am in the process of running the wiring and replacing all the rubber and interior. Looks like that '60? you got has severally rotted heater channels also. That's basically a structural rocker and it's pretty common that they rust out unfortunately. It's a big job. I love VWs, but this one will have to find someone with LOTS of free time to fix it all up I think. Don't feel bad if it continues to just be a yard ornament. The deck lid might be worth some money for someone that needs one.

The VW thing was my all time favorite car when I was back in high shcool. A friend of mine had a bright orange one. Lance mentions that it has a military look to it. It was actually called the Volkswagen 181. The concept for the 181 came from the Type 82 Kübelwagen (an abbreviation of the German “Kübelsitzwagen,” meaning “bucket-seat car) and the also Type 166 Schwimmwagen (literally meaning swimming car or amphibious car), a German military vehicle used during World War II. The Type 181 was also sold to the public, as the Kurierwagen (“courier car”) in West Germany, the Trekker (RHD Type 182) in the United Kingdom, the Thing in the United States (1973-74), the Safari in Mexico and South America, and Pescaccia in Italy. I build custom Hot Wheels size cars and dioramas, I'm going to do one of this VW Thing and the other bugs. Thank you for sharing. Take care and God bless. JESUS JESUS JESUS Till the Day I Die. I'm now a dad and I have the desire to share my love of VW/Porsche with my son...but I am a total novice in regards to wrenching so I've got a lot to learn (but its okay cause he's only 8 months old).
