Huge Agate Rock Hunt! An Over 9 Pound Gorgeous Agate Find!

A record size agate find for me on this rock hunt...weighing in at slightly over 9 pounds! Plus a 7 pound agate and a couple 4 pounders! Wow! I had to make it a short hunt because I couldn't lift my backpack with anything more in it!

Me either!!!! I've never seen so many monsters- but more importantly, these huge agates are sooooo gemmy inside with solid agate and 3D moss and banding. I wish the sun was out so I could have shown them better. I'm just ecstatic for what the summer holds.

Kim, Since you insist on finding such big, heavy agates, you might want to talk to KatyDid. Her husband Jim has a cart that I saw in a video a while back that looked like it would go over rough terrain pretty well. I'd hate to see you hurt yourself carrying too much, or have to leave something cool behind because it's too heavy. So nice to see you out making videos again! Thanks for sharing your hunts with us.

The red in that petrified wood consist of mostly sap that surrounds the heart wood....had to add more....the orange splotches in that nice piece of petrified wood you found at the end of this vid is fungus from when it was decaying and fortunately ended up where it got to petrify before becoming dirt. Different kinds of fungus create lots of color variations and awesome patterns, especially when sap is mixed in. Also, I think there was an orange agate in the river about a foot and half from shore 3-4 feet to your left where you washed the first big one at the river....lol I was hoping you'd see it....but you had an excellent distration in your hand😂

Ohhhhh I miss so many!!! Yes, I get quite distracted by the finds in my hand. I will usually stop recording and study the piece for awhile. I love the wood like that which started to decay, then petrified before disintegrating! Those are the coolest specimens!

The universe seems very pleased with your human cuz you be attracting the jewels. This may sound crazy but we’ll, … actually it is crazy but it’s the facts of life. Two years ago I received a gift, or more of an upgrade rather that allows me to see details in nature that I could not see in the past. How do you recommend cutting water lines? With the grain to see any dendrites, or across the grain to see the water line patterns.

Most of the time I leave it on because it looks really cool...even when it's slabbed. I consider it part of the agate...how it's been slowly eroding out of it so so many years....
