Looks delicious! I haven't had a feed of fresh cod heads in quite some time. Have you ever tried the cod liver or the puddick (stomach)? They're great fried I'd fight the gulls for the stuff your throwing away haha l.
@Biglandtrapper4 жыл бұрын
I like the liver boiled or roasted on a hot rock by a open fire.. We don't get squids here so we stuff the stomachs like you would squid, though they have to be scrapped and cleaned very well.. But these are not eaten often, I sometimes keep the live to extract the oil as well.. cod liver oil is good and also uses to make trapping lure...
@Biglandtrapper4 жыл бұрын
Some people make a spread for their bread for the liver as well....
@tyrel88304 жыл бұрын
I've only ever tried the liver fried but spread on bread sounds good. I have had the stomach stuff and baked though, good stuff! I'm in nova scotia now, so now good cod but most summers you can catch all the squid you can carry right off the wharf.
@Biglandtrapper4 жыл бұрын
@@tyrel8830 When you boil the cod liver it goes more like normal liver after the oil comes out. I'm not sure if I can spell it right but the spread is called shiva. The only squids we get is when we are shrimp fishing and they are few and far between..
@tyrel88304 жыл бұрын
I'll have to try that if I ever get back home to catch some fresh cod. We didnt get many squid back home either (up on the northern peninsula) but I do remember they came ashore once by the hundreds if not thousands. Filled a few buckets that day lol
