my theory is that project rene wasn‘t going as well as they thought it would and now that EA has competition and saw what inzoi can do, they knew they would lose against such a strong candidate. that‘s why this weird excuse „we don‘t want players to have to start over“ came in. so now I feel like their strategy is gonna be milking the sims 4 but I feel like in a few years the sims 4 is gonna be a completely different game than what we bought in 2014…

Honestly, that would be better. TS2 and TS3 have improved so much since the end of their life cycles and it’s solely thanks to modders. Any minor annoyance I identify with my game (TS2), there’s a mod for it. You won’t ever be able to do that with TS4 as it won’t ever be a ‘finished’ game. And imagine how awful the already-dated graphics will look in another ten years’ time.

They’ve taken ts4’s comparison numbers over a decade, when every other Sims game before it, had much less time to build fans and new player base from the release date. Of the number fudging, the amount of time Sims 4 has been out compared to the other three is probably negligible as an influence tbh. Eventually you hit your saturation point and no more players come in. Sims 4 has more downloads because it’s literally free. They made it free to make the numbers look good for the shareholders, because they’d likely hit their saturation point and wanted to entice new players by removing the barrier to entry. Even if it wasn’t, it’s also the only sims game to have an actual console port (multiple revenue streams and catching players who don’t own PCs) Access to technology has probably also benefitted it (more people actually own a PC capable of running it), as has overall brand recognition (it’s the fourth entry, which means it builds off the reputation of the previous three) I would be more curious to see the sales distribution of their packs tbh, that would give a better idea of the health of the game (which is why they’ll never reveal it)

After researching (yes I did 😅), for the Sims 1 & 2 base games together (= 9 years lifespan) the total sales were 22 million for base game (Sims 1 & 2 only). For sims 4 base game (8 year lifespan), sales are 10 million (as of 2018 - further info was unavailable regarding the base game 🤨). Sims 3 base game sales were 4.5 million. Total amount of sales for all three (Sims 1, 2 & 3) = 26.5 million sales for base games alone over 9 years. The numbers will be even more if I included expansions for each generation of sims game. Make of it what you will but I thought I’d put this here for anyone interested :)

Unfortunately, we don't know exactly what happened with EA and Maxis and the teams and Grant, and unfortunately they haven't commented on it. I think that's a shame, but I can understand it to some extent, because they don't want other companies (competitors: paralive, inzoi etc.) to know about their private situations in their company.

I think Project Renee was Sims 5 and have an online mode but after seeing Inzoi and knowing they would get killed, they are just releasing the online mode in a panic and in a hope it can compete. Inzoi I think will take over when released and starts adding more content.

The Sims 2 modding scene became its best when the game was dropped because modders didn't have to worry about their work being wasted in a half dozen months by a new pack. With Sims 4 everything is temporary, there's often two patches a month or more, and for someone working long hours it's pointless to spend one hour updating mods and one hour playing only to have to do it all over again next time i have time to play which may be next month. But now it seems I'd be waiting a long time for that, and Paralives II would probably have come out by then, so maybe if the game does get better (many comments here say it broke for them instead) and if updates slow down i might try again.

I get so surprised when people are shocked the sims 2 is more popular than the sims 3. Sims 3 was great but sims 2 imo is peek good sims content

Sims 3’s performance issues weigh it down, Sims 2 is a much smoother experience and so many stories have been made and shared with it over the years to keep it alive

Yes!!! People seem to forget how fing boring the sims 3 base game was. You barley had any clothes. Any hair style. Any furniture. You needed to buy so many packs until it got existing and in the end (at least for me) sims 3 was not really playable as well cause it was full of bugs and slow (especially the world which came with the island pack was unplayable for me) I was so addicted to sims 2 and was so excited for the sims 3. But after a first play I was honestly little bit disappointed cause it was so boring so fast.

Taken Mods folder out and now testing whilst watching this video . I must say that my game is running the best it has been since I can’t remember. DX11 switch took place as I loaded the game. I was happy to see that as I was worried it hadn’t happened before now. So no crashes/laggy game and I’m about 3 hours in. Great video by the way. Hope you feel better soon. ❤

@@nicolelewis8975 It is. It's been a problem since the Lovestruck update. If you try to follow 2 or more teens to highschool, the UI will treat the second one onwards like they're at the rabbit hole high school. They can still walk around the school, but the game will treat them like they're not at school. If you try to send them home at the end of the day, they get the red briefcase that says they're late, even though it's already after 3. Confirmed to be happening without mods as well.

Sims 4 did better than sims 2 and 3 combined so its too late. They will keep the sims 4 model with free to play and endless kits and lackluster expansions. Project rene will be sims 4 online but way worse.

I really hope they take these bug fixes and updated features seriously. I really hope they update stuff like occult customization. For example the mermaids, i dont think they even have a nail section. Lmao so id be surprised if they even have an eyelash section. Every occult should have every customization option, even other occult options.

While there are good things in Sims 4 that I think we'd all love to see carried forward, I can't imagine it's a good place to start from going forward. I mean, are they going to rework the entire game engine, go back and update all packs to ensure they work properly and function with all the other packs, AND rework the honestly broken/schizophrenic emotion system to make it worth starting from? Does this mean they are saying we'll never have open worlds, cars, etc? edited for typos

I feel like project rene is going to be somthing like a new engine that will be implemented in the sims 4 and their other games. Idk tho... since they're going to keep working on the sims 4 they might ss well start updating the game itself to be modernized to fit in with the gaming culture we have now. I had a disk, for the first sims were you could scan a picture and they made a sim that looked a little like the picture. But it was really low tech. I have been waiting for this to happen I cannot wait.

Why can we NOT get autosaves?? Like it does not have to be the main game. Could be a seperate save just for autosave. I don't get it. Also, for the "kids change out of clothes after leaving school" I wish that was a parenting thing. I was told many times to change out of school clothes. And then maybe even the next day have to wear dirty school clothes for getting the dirty the day before 😂

I've been playing Palia and now this update, wants me to play Sims 4 again and I'm sooo happy they are fixing My Wedding Stories and all the performance updates and omfg the 650 color swatches on all BB items 😮 and new BB items? 😮 That's insane😱 I already removed my mods folder, ty. Last week I had a dry throat but I took cough drops called Halls and I'm feeling better again. "Halls" is the name of the peppermint candies (cough drops), but the word "Hals" means throat in German and it's pronounced (H-uuh-ls), like the a in arigato. thanks for the video and get well soon 🤍🙏
