We own a 2023 SCOPE 18M. And we love it! - purchased it for the many reasons you mentioned. As with any RV, it takes awhile to figure out what works best for the users. For example, when sleeping we choose to put our heads forward and feet toward the bath. It is easier to scoot “feet first”. We also just toured the Thor factory in Bristol, IN and the 2024 model has addressed many of the annoyances we have. It is nice to know that they are listening.

Hi Scott, This vid was great to see as it’s the model of my rig… mine is a Rize 18m vs the Scope but they are exactly the same. I’m a remote worker in IT and use mine to escape the Phoenix heat in the summer or hang out by a lake, park or boon-docking in the Fall, Winter and spring. I’ve added a foam topper to the bed and it’s easily used as a single since I mostly travel solo. I’ve traveled in mine for weeks at a time without issues due to size. I like the cassette toilet as it’s very easy to empty and maintain. On longer trips More frequent water fills occur due to the smaller tank sizes but see this as a minor inconvenience given the footprint of the vehicle. As you said is easily a day driver if wanted. For the features and ease of use I’ve found it to be a great value compared to other makes and models in the Class B market. Thanks again for another great video!

Hey Scott! I also really like a lot about this one. I love short vans! The front seating/table layout is excellent for three people to be together. The bed could be quite nice just by pulling the extender out a few inches for decent width for one person. I do that in my Embassy Sport. Galley is very good. Bath, for this kind of van is a winner even if it's a bit cramped. Has everything for short travels for two or longer for a single person. Cassette toilet is, well....I sure do love my LAVEO dry flush. It works! Sorry I missed you at the Embassy camp out.

Also, Lithium not necessary if you travel shoulder seasons in the west half of the US. I just finish a Desert southwest 12 national Park journey over 6 weeks in 6 states. I used my heater a lot at high altitude in Colorado for the snow. I only used my generator a few hours a week when my Jackery stopped working. I never ran out of power because I drove every day for at least 30 minutes. I mostly Boondock and used air conditioning for an hour or two here and there if needed with the Generator on my SolIs.

Thanks for sharing this your on your channel, Scott. Very thorough review as usual. This ia an incredibly well thought out floorplan. However, after watching other vanlife channels sharing nightmare experiences with Thor products purchased from LaMesa RV, there is no way I would take a chance on this product or dealer. 😢 Thor build quality has a horrible reputation and LaMesa customers are waiting months to resolve warranty claims. Nomadic Introvert has a Thor like this. Unfortunately she has had problem after problem with her rig which is less than a year old. There were so many things that were of shoddy workmanship. She has now been stuck in Florida for quite some time because there has been problem after problem with the generator. She had to have her whole bathroom replaced because that was all falling apart and not made properly. She had to have her window fixed because that wasn't working properly. Her exhaust tailpipe was falling off.... The piece that held it on was of poor quality. You can watch some of her videos and see all of the problems. WoW! This Floor Plan is exactly like mine. I just bought 1989 Camper Van and this is how it came stock. 250 E by Ford. Difference is I have a Jack knife bed that I love. So easy to set up. One flip and it is done. No cushes to even move. The Back had a Dark Matter Toilet and a Tub. Smallest tub I ever seen. I ripped those out and have now a huge storage space. I still have the shower back there and put in my Camping large toilet with automatic push button flush. Love it, easy to clean out and Zero smell. But also the whole section doubles as a storage room. Bikes etc.. I do have a extra Queen size bed over head in the front though. So mine sleeps 4. Not sure if this one has it. But mine is 19ft is this a 17footer? There are some pieces on this one I like to use for mine. Do you sell the parts. Like that net insert into the wall is cool. If not I can make one. Shower door is interesting as well. I have niece curtain that covers mine and tucks out of the way. Also the rail for your shower curtain might be nice. I using Magnets to hold mine up. Since shower curtain liners come with magnets build in already . I just thru them away after a couple of uses and than buy an new. one. Keeps it extra clean! I like to update my fridge too. Im sure yours takes less energy. How much is this overall Van? I bought mine for $12Gs put in $500 for new floors etc.. I do not have solar yet that be next and another cost. Mine has a Gen. But thinking about ripping it out for the Solar and a place to put its batteries. And I than can just use the 2nd gas tank that is built in. For a Reserve. I believe it 12-14 gallons on the reserver alone!

Interesting concept, seems best as you said where someone is using it casually/weekends rather than for extended road trips. Overall I like the idea but a couple of head scratchers: 1. Cant dump your toilet if you have anything attached to the hitch? As someone who carries a motorcycle I’d have to remove it every time I dump with that tiny tank. Even if you don’t have something on the hitch if it’s super buggy like where I am now youre getting your rig filled with mosquitos every time you dump. Give me a black tank instead. 2. Forgive me if I missed it but are there no dimmers on those lights in that fancy touch display?!? Top winnebago miss on my GL is them not installing dimmers on ANY of these harsh bright white spotlights they chose to illuminate the interior. It just feels like they cheaped out…. As a fellow fan of mood lighting, I had to buy my own dimmable lights and hardly use any of the 10+ built in ones.

FYI - official height of the vehicle is 9’ 5” with the AC on top so it won’t fit into a garage unless the door opening can accommodate the height.

@@pdub6453 Thanks. Planning on ditching the rooftop AC and installing a undermounted mini split 12V.

I have NO EXPERIENCE with living in a van, but I think that your assessment of the sleeping arrangements IS TOTALLY REALISTIC. because of the various cracks in the resulting cushion layout. 😞 Note this review did NOT count the seat belts in the sofa thus we don't know the number of legal travelers!

Not a bad layout. Needs some Volta though 😂. Probably good for a solo traveler. Maybe a little tight for 2

Even as a single traveler, I would not like the bed. No way to move around when it is down. And I have to sleep on a mattress, not a cushion. 😊

It is a great floor plan except for the couch/bed set up. A better set up would be to have a "Rollover Couch."

Hey Scott nice presentation, cool van but way too small for me!! Good maybe for smaller people or single traveler, 👍

So with the typical discount we're looking at about $95,000. I think the Winnebago Solis Pocket 36B better have a better layout.

I looked at these almost 2 years ago. Opted for a custom build with a fixed bed. I am mostly solo when traveling and really value my lithium setup and comfy bed! Plus having a roomy garage for equipment, tools, firewood is a plus and my bike and skis fit there too.
@maxlakritz Жыл бұрын
Sounds wonderful😊. Did you build that in a 1500 chassis?
@bcloetta Жыл бұрын
@@maxlakritz I did not do the build. I bought it from a friend who had done most of the build minus the cabinetry. I read some negative reviews of the Thors. I drove a Travato and felt like I was on a boat--listing and rocking. Mine just instantly felt solid driving it and I had confidence it had been lovingly cared for and all the bugs were worked out.

I wish I had gone with a custom build. It sounds like you went with a larger van. To get a garage etc

The bed isn’t a bed it’s a bunch of cushions that don’t stay in one place and it’s also not a sofa. I’d like to see them go all in on a single person floor plan going something like a daybed in that space where you can put a decent mattress. Also no lithium and little solar. I didn’t catch if there was an inverter

That is an interesting Van for sure. If I were a single traveler I would absolutely put it at the top of my list, but still behind your model Travato. I am not sure what the marketing angle is but if it’s marketed as a short trip or weekend rig I think the stove and generator are over kill. On short trip or weekend a single burner butane works perfect and is way cheaper than the overpriced Dometic stoves. It’s a good floor plan though!! There is a local couple in the Phoenix area that had a lot of problems with their Thor Class B and I’ve seen other KZbin videos of some less than quality workmanship on Thor B vans do I would definitely inspect the heck out of a Thor van. Great video Scott with a good presentation of the the Thor B van.

I like this layout. Casey Roman bought one but she is not happy with the comfort of the the bed and it seems too small. She is going to change and upsize. Also for smaller person sitting on the couch is not comfortable for working.

@@margaretbowen867 more complicated when part of the couch. She did change the cushions out. Myself, I would get a mattress topper which is what I use. I have a Murphy bed so it needs to fold up.

I paused your video at 4:30 because you did the drawers very fast. I like to look for quality of build, such as dovetail versus staples. Looks like this one fails.
