I approached today's video a bit differently. I didn't want to just sit at a table and pull things out of the box one-by-one. Instead, I opted to get things sorted beforehand, get good shots of everything, and made sure to include some info on the notable items that may or may not be new for you. I really hope you guys enjoy this one! It was a beast to put together, but it was exactly the type of thing I love to do. Sorting out vintage figures like this is quite therapeutic.

This format was great. I'm sure it's much more work, but having more info about the figure (other than what comes to mind at that moment) and the better look at the figures really makes a difference. Hopefully that makes a difference for the channel metrics, and if it doesn't, know that it's still appreciated!

I love how excited and happy you still get about MOTU toys and merchandise, it's very refreshing. After being so experienced with these figures and items, you still enjoy it so much. And your knowledge of this stuff is so amazing, I mean, you literally wrote the book on it! Great video, thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed it. And vintage DC figures?? Sign me up! Ones that feature the vintage motu items are always my favourite Pixel Dan videos, the enthusiasm shines through and it makes me smile. That may not sound like much but non-forced smiling is a rarity for me. I do like the format as I think the whole "open box and see what's inside" video has reached saturation point.

I agree with the writing and history found on the marks and blemishes on older toys. I have a few like that in my collection, and maybe it’s my love of the movie Toy Story, but I have a big soft spot for that sort of thing.

Pretty sure I saw Skeletor's sword in that pile towards the end. Think you kissed it matching accessories. ;) I'm so jealous! My mum was VERY good at clearing out old toys.. which is why I'm so busy collecting more in my early 40s. Wish your family all the best Mr Pixel!

Nice collection and video. I think I'm similar to Dan when it comes to the old toys. I have a small NES collection, and I almost prefer carts that have names scribbled on them. Gives some history to it that adds to the nostalgia value. It's not just a game, but something some kid loved long ago.
@robd13292 жыл бұрын
As a kid i hated when someone wrote their name on a Nintendo game cartridge. Whats funny was im not sure why. Lol
@alexgarbe19712 жыл бұрын
@@robd1329 you know, you're right. As I kid i hated it. It was like desecration. I would never do anything to "vandalize" mine. How could you just write on your stuff? But now, it adds to the nostalgia for me. Getting old is weird.

My old King Randor has the same dark spots on his legs and became kinda greasy. I could wipe it off a little bit, but it's really annoying. Also the golden wrist guards turned black. That's why I'm looking forward to the Origins version.

This is awesome when I did have my vintage collection I had a few of the Malaysia figures I called them moldy Masters that was indeed a common problem with Malaysia figures The only reason I got rid of my vintage figures is because I kept having to replace them two figures a year because of the bands popping I would not do the fish eye hooks to me it took away from the original feeling having the legs rebanned Nice pickup

If you do get folks together to try and play the Maters of the Universe RPG, please make a video of it. Fans will want to see how it works. In fact, to quote TV Tropes in regards to the game (under the page for "So Bad It's Horrible): "In 1985, FASA put out a Masters of the Universe RPG to cash in on the fad of the time... and it was close to being completely unplayable. Combat works by using an "attack" option vs. an opponent's "defend" skill. Important rules were left out (defending requires rolling 1d6 and adding their skill... but which skill is never given) or even directly contradicted (one monster is listed as having two "attack" options, only for the very next sentence in the book to note that it "always defends"), and even when there is an explanation it tends to be unnecessarily complicated (players have to consult a complex table to see how an enemy reacts to being hit before they can actually do damage). Stats are given for several characters from the show, but many of them give the impression that the writers had never watched the source material - Teela, for example, is a magic user despite being the Badass Normal of the Masters, and Orko, of all people, gets offensive spells. Worse yet, some of said spells didn't even have rules included for how they worked - later releases included a card that, rather than giving the rules, just said that they would be included in a future edition (which never came out). It was intended for 8- to 10-year-olds to introduce them to RPGs, but even adults with college degrees have expressed confusion over the mechanics."
