Easy chicken in instant pot... just cover with water, maybe a splash of sherry or some, 6 or 7 tsp salt and whatever else you feel like (onion, garlic, cumin, etc..). Turn on manual, high for 0, yes zero. After done let sit until instant therm says done. 4 lb - 25 min, 5-6 lb 35ish minutes. You get 2 quarts of stock. Then can make more once you debone the chicken. 😊

There's a really interesting group of people who live in Siberia called the Yakut who mainly survive off of meat and dairy products because of how cold the climate is and how remote they live. You talking about the elk reminded me of them.

An easy way to add protein to porridge is eggs! I add 2 per bowl. So if I’m making 3 servings grits, I add 6 eggs. 6 svgs oatmeal, a dozen eggs. It takes a bit to get used to if ur used to thin porridges. I started early with mine (I used to stir in hardboiled eggs to their porridges from the start as I could use only the yolk at first and besides I didn’t realize I could just cook them in with the grains!) but evenso I used only 1 then 1 1/2 eggs per bowl then finally 2. It’s breakfast in a bowl with a glass of kefir or pour milk on it. My kids didn’t want milk on it by age 8 but I used to pour about half their cups of milk on their bowls. Less to spill from their cups lol
@YeshuaKingMessiah Жыл бұрын
A reason for eggs is save the lentils for lunch. And a way to have eggs every single day. U don’t know it on porridge days or smoothie days (I put eggs in smoothies, never protein powder, plus I use milk not juice) so the other few days can always be straight up eggs, no need to make quiche etc. just scramble or fry eggs with toast or potatoes or plantains. Plantains fried, are like crack, beware! Bake potatoes till mostly fine night before and fridge overnight. Cut up for breakfast to finish with frying before adding eggs to scramble in. Or roast a sheet pan full of cut up potatoes and add to eggs when scrambling. They just need to heat thru.
@RowesRising Жыл бұрын
I love using leftover baked potatoes in the fridge overnight and fry them in the morning- so efficient! Thank you for those suggestions. My daughter is on an elimination diet and cannot have any kind of eggs- so we are finding other ways for her to get protein.
@YeshuaKingMessiah Жыл бұрын
I bought the bag of fresh brussels (cut them in half) and the bag of fresh broccoli (cut most in half) at Costco and roasted them with s&p, sausage grease and butter (we had little grease). It’s probably a good bit cheaper than the frozen. I found my dying radishes in the fridge after and should have added them! After it’s done cooking, I douse with vinegar and we can eat these puppies cold out of the fridge! Roasted veggies are just soooo flavorful they’re good cold. I did two sheet trays so they roast not steam. Someday I’ll be all trendy n do meat at same time but there’s never enough room for meat too… I do a full pan of meat when I make it lol We ve got 3 adults, 5 huuuungry teens and 2-3 kids here so we go thru food! Idk know how but they eat 4c dry rice at 1 meal…
@RowesRising Жыл бұрын
I love roasted veg cold. I typically buy fresh and do like you but for this busy season we are in- 4 kids in sports😅 I’m cutting a few corners some days. We are almost going through the 3 cups of dry rice now- and that’s with only 5 of us eating it. I always have enough left for my egg scramble the next day- almost time to go up a cup!!

Here is a treat that might replace ice cream and is inexpensive and I think delicious. 1 banana 1 cup milk of choice 2 T unsweetened cocoa powder 1 t vanilla 2 chopped dates or other sweetener 2 cups ice Blend in your vitamix and enjoy I added a little avocado oil to make it a little creamier.

On the sourdough, how do you know how much to leave in the jar? You scooped some out and then left some in the jar. Do you have to measure that amount you leave in the jar or you just make sure there is a little in there and then add flour and water?

Yaaay, you have them back to homeschooling? ❤❤❤ Ever tried making bread with maple syrup instead of sugar? Try it just once and see if you like it. I have sworn off sugar because it does so many bad things to me and I'm sick of feeling like poopy kah kah all the time. Plus I'm sick of being overweight. BUT I have substituted sugar with maple syrup or honey for year's now, so some of my healthier snacks and cookies are a little bit better for me. We have an abundance of maple syrup and honey so using it makes sense for us. 😅 And Happy Tuesday to y'all.

@@RowesRising I'm so glad they're back to homeschooling. I asked my 15 yr old of he had the choice, would you go back to school or keep homeschooling. He chose homeschooling, but he definitely needs to get into some sort of sport, or get a job where he is able to socialize more.

It’s the sriracha- causes me inflammation. And the nuts and seeds 😅 I have 3 autoimmune diseases and I have chronic pain which is much less pain when I eliminate certain foods- I suffer less. I used to race motocross and was into other extreme sports- I have old injuries that flare up with certain foods. Herniated discs in my bak and a torn up shoulder- I’m much happier with my strict diet but- I LoVE food so I eat things that hurt me sometimes for fun. 😆

Did your daughter get bitten by one of those ticks that make some people develop an allergy to red meat?
@RowesRising Жыл бұрын
Her doctor says where we live that is nearly impossible- however we have visited Virginia where there are those infected ticks. We were just at the allergist yesterday and he says the hives she was experiencing were directly related to her stomach bug, not true allergies from a scientific standpoint, and she should be fine to reintroduce foods one at a time. She is intolerant according to a blood test we did. However she is not allergic. So she may have some discomfort with foods or not.
@mustwereallydothis Жыл бұрын
@Rowes Rising It must have been quite the relief when they told you all that. That tick bite meat allergy sounds like quite the annoyance, to say the least.
