yeah i agree! he is so dumb nerd city explains why this horror movie is like crafted for pyros zoomer brain and why its not scary to normal people and he goes "your brain just thinks its scary" what? is he trolling? pyro literally thinks 5 knights and freddy is scary and jumpscares are peak horror and this movie was decent, he pisses me off, also i dont know if nerd city summarized the 70s correctly, they were afraid of consumerism? i think they were largely afraid of serial killers and human monsters, now its ghosts, they live is not a horror movie for teens either, its like a science fiction movie, so saying this is a comparable time piece from another generation is strange to me.

I love this podcast because it expertly breaks the formula. Usually a podcast consists of several equal parties (save one) conversing about a certain topic and explaining said topic to the unequal party/guest who serves as an audience stand-in. TBH, however, is literally Nerd eloquently explaining complex shit to three brain dead memetards who’ll take his cue and run with it and yell at each other and use buzz words because that’s all they understand and it’s hilarious. This podcast would fall to pieces without Nerd it would just be Colossal’s ad read for an hour and then Pyro and Colossal fighting over something lmao. Nerd didn’t even watch Skinamarink and was still able to analyze its place in the modern social internet sphere and break down WHY it has found success/intrigue with what little info he had. Not to downplay everyone else’s roles (they create the comedy) I’m just saying that I think the flipped formula (one informed party and three uninformed parties vs three informed and one uninformed audience stand in) works much better because it makes Pyro, Colossal, and Dolan relatable to the audience. Each episode feels like a no-strings-attached gathering of four friends, one of whom really wants to talk about some stuff. It’s clear that Nerd draws from research and experience whereas the others only draw from personal experience and anecdote. Great podcast y’all

Skinamarink is weird because I think it's the perfect anti-Hollywood horror movie for better and worse.
