wat I do is if there's a school I leave one squid in the water with jig so the squid dont lose interest and u can keep on reeling em in if ur scared keep the smallest squid in the jig so doesn't matter if u lose it

Hey Nev! Great video ! We are fishing up your way land based but all we are catching are toadies (obviously not by using squid jig) or losing lures in weed...any recommendation????
@NevsFishing4 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, where about are you fishing and what are you fishing for? land based fishing around here can be extremely challenging at times
@margaretchao10744 жыл бұрын
@@NevsFishing thanks for the quick reply Nev - going for whiting (hence fishing close to the green stuff), flatties, mullets...using pipis, mussels, chicken, metal lures, soft plastics...(mainly on the beach if not on pier - tried newhaven, cleeland b, san remo, cowes, red rocks, inverloch...) and no success on the squid at san remo either wtf
@NevsFishing4 жыл бұрын
@@margaretchao1074 No worries mate, every spot around here is hit and miss. I've personally struggled extremely bad recently landbased at the exact same spots you mentioned. If you are going for King George Whiting then I have caught them at San Remo and Cowes pier (Cowes is best), extremely early morning / evening or at night are usually the best times. As for bait I mainly use squid and pippies, also take note that schooling whiting will mainly feed on sand (if you fish weed you will catch heaps of wrasse and grass whiting). I also recommend having a squid float out while you do so. When the waters warm up you will have much more success on the whiting. Hope that helped, Cheers!

Great video mate! It always puzzled me as to why people would swear a certain colour is the best. Especially after I learnt squid are colour blind!!!
@NevsFishing4 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate! Exactly right they are colourblind so I guess its mostly personal preference and confidence in what jig your using

Yes squid are coulour blind but they pink up uv light which each colour reflects differently. But yes personal preference.

Nice video Nev, do you reckon you could do a fun style video along the line of using a super cheap jig like from a 2$ shop or Asian store. And then use a high end Japanese jig or something like a yamashita live search. Just a suggestion and I enjoy those kind of videos lol but don’t mind any content. Tight lines on the squid

Cheers for the suggestion mate, I actually have a video extremely similar to this planned so hopefully it will be up in the near future! 👌

Nice vid mate. Do u anchor up when the tide gets to much or do u just go closer to shore?
@NevsFishing4 жыл бұрын
I don't anchor for squid, only drift. When the current or wind gets too bad I use my pedals to combat it or as you said go shallower

@@NevsFishing thanks man bit nervous taking the yak in western port coz of how strong the currents are

Now i love fishing but one of those big squid is all you would have needed why take all 9 of them don't you want your children to be able to catch them and one day your grand children because if everyone takes more than they need there will be none left for future generations you really need to think about catch and release and fish sustainability and because your streaming your a role model to other people that like to fish do it the responsible way.
