It never rained in the Army but, it sure rained on the Army. Shop the sales for your meats. Our local market alternate between beef, chicken, and pork. Cooking for yourselves gives you higher quality and less expensive meals. I've seen a tramily of older guys that would cook roasts over fires and eat very well on trail. You can carry meats and veggies to cook on a camp fire, for a couple of days. It makes the journey more fun but does slow you down. When Iwas a PL we heated our C Rats on truck engines. Every once in a while some idiot would forget to puncture the can first and it would explode all over the engine. Nice video. Happy Trails

I just love your videos. You are so much more talkative and jolly than the first time. I understand this is a different hike than when you were doing the Triple Crown. I keep wondering if you’ll be able to do it under $1000. But if you keep shopping in hiker boxes and eating orange slices off the ground 😂, I think you can do it. By now, I know you can do anything! Thank you for sharing your $1000 challenge.

I used a similar tent on the TA this year. It initially let water in at the tie down points despite extra seam sealing. I worked out that water was seeping through the actual tie down tape which went right through the tent wall and held the mesh inner. Siliconed that and problem solved.

Before watching I will guess your tent worked fine. It would be interesting to have your blood tested before and after your thru hike . It would be interesting to see your levels after a few months of eating lots of crap. To be honest I do the same thing and I have never had it tested. After watching the video I would guess that was condensation. Before going to a single wall tent I never had any water in my tent but going lighter has its shortcomings and benefits. Take care

Question about the series, does the 1k budget include food? Cuz I spend close to that on groceries a week (Canadian, so I can’t speak to your American grocery prices compared to how inflated our are). But I just can’t comprehend how it’d be under 1k to eat for the months it takes to complete a hike like you’re doing.
@QuadzillaHikes7 ай бұрын
1k a WEEK on food? What in the world are you eating?? 🤣
@Walkerxy7 ай бұрын
@@QuadzillaHikes that’s called affording 3 meals a day with vegetables and animal based protein with Canadian grocery prices right now. There was just a month long boycott of one of the grocery conglomerates because of the ridiculous pricing. This is a huge issue here sadly. We are getting priced out of food.
