This update can be good or bad. Marquee characters have already been outside the reach of F2P players anyway so the change to them coming in faster is not going to affect F2P too much. The main place it will affect F2P is the end game F2P accounts trying to keep up with whales. This can also give some players that can spend from time to time the ability to pick and choose which eras they want to participate (spend) in and ignore others that they care less about. The change to the quests and addition of the episode track can be a good thing as long as you can reasonably reach the end of the track as a F2P player without needing to have an end game account. If you can reach the end, but probably not get the bonus crate, and the rewards are as they claim then this can just make things easier overall for F2P as the rewards will be more consistent and less dependent on "Do I have the right GL for this Galactic Challenge?". There are certainly more ways to spend money in this method but as long as they are not taking away the daily and GC rewards for F2P players and just adding more rewards for those that pay for the pass then F2P will still be viable and not removed from the game. F2P will be at a disadvantage after this change as the pass will accelerate more players forward but it will not be dead. I think it will be better for everyone to focus on where you are and how this affects you there rather than looking at this as making reaching the tip of the spear harder. I will still get to end game as a very light spender. it will take me longer because I an not buying all the things but I can still get there. Having every new marquee is not end game, that is the tip of the spear and is unobtainable to everyone outside krakens already anyway.

Yeah, as a free to play I like this update. I never get any of the new marquees anyway but love seeing the characters come to the game and am excited to start getting them the next year. The daily event coins and the shop will help me get more gear to help me gear up the teams I am working on.

Man they are just absolutely milking the playerbase dry at this point, I had been working on a f2p account for 6 months working towards the older assault battles and with the mix of them being rotated out as well as the constant push for marquees and making these new characters hard to farm and essentially mandatory, I think I'm done with this game over this stuff

I had the exact same reaction about the pace of new characters. Basically if you're not a kraken, you're done with getting new characters cause you'll burn out your gear and crystals very quickly. Game is done. The cadence to me signals they don't have any clue how to get the game back on track, so they'll just flood the game with characters. Time to start looking for a new game!

I actually think most of the changes are good, definitely a modernization of how freemium games work in 2024. It is a wait and play situation and probably a win for free to play players. I want to see how many shards we get for the season pass.. right now Marquees are $30 each beyond 3 stars so If they are doing that at $20 for 2 that isn't the worst thing depending on what else we get. It is so much though, we will definitely have to interact with it to see how it functions.

The burnout you were talking about is real. I took 3.5 years off and started a fresh account last September. It was freeing because I can focus and chase what I want rather than being on the endgame treadmill. I chased Baylon and Jar Jar, and the rest has been of my choosing. LSBs have been nice, but being free of the endgame chase is far nicer still. Maybe you should choose one of your "chase" accounts and make it your new "main" account. The burden of the endgame treadmill shows on you. Let the past die. Kill it if you have to...

TLDR. galactic challenge rewards are tide to the new episode passes ( 4 week 2 marquee ) clamed to be f2p friendly. New marque challenge's. New store for episode passes. Quest, dailys and achievement overall. Sim a lot more events. They confused UI update with quality of life updates.

Just on the new update yesterday, as long as you complete that F2P reward track, it actually works out as a win for all players F2P to whales and increases the rewards of lower GP accounts by more then higher GP accounts. It really is a win win for everybody. The big negative change that all players should be upset about is the changes to assault battles, but I am hopeful that CG will see sense on that and change it.

We have zero idea what's in this rewards track. They said comparable rewards, what do they consider comparable? That's up for a lot of interpretation which usually screws us (the new raids come to mind, which give us less overall rewards)

@@osets2117 We know EXACTLY what is in the rewards track 4 x res crate & 4 x gold crate moved from Galactic Challenge. Just go to your GC and you can see the rewards in the new F2P reward track. On top of that you get a new currency to spend in a new shipment store.

The fact they can't balance a character that they took time to put out makes me worried about the balance of the game. The success of light speed bundles showed CG there was a market for light spenders. This episode pass is the result. I'm hoping it would make getting shards for the Marquees overall easier , like the multi-tier system they are currently using. We will have had 19 Marquee characters this year after Huyang and Hera come out. With the additions of the paid episode path including shards for Marquee characters, I can see being able to get the character to 5 stars before they are F2P farmable.

I’m not sold on all these changes yet but I’m also not on the doom and gloom train. Content-wise, I don’t see this as closing off the endgame for your account either. The new marquee pacing is def excessive imo, but you also absolutely don’t need all the new toons to be competitive in endgame. If anything, being competitive without all the latest and greatest is far more relatable to the majority of players than being a whale/kraken. Songeta, Calvin, & plenty of other content creators never buy all the new marquees and they’re certainly endgame & competitive. You can pick and choose which toons you want to whale on & which journeys you want to pursue right away. You can also dolphin each marquee for like $50 & get them to 5* and just farm them after. It’ll still be a fast unlock of new journeys, just not day one

They're song even now thanks to whale on that is, by their own admission, required to complete the battle pass and if you think you'll be able to complete the battle pass with just the 3 star marque unlocks you don't know CG very well.

One thing is really don't like is they made it harder to complete daily activities by increasing the energy requirement to 600 - and you are rewarded with less crystals on the whole I believe. Before I could complete the daily activities with way less energy, for more minimum crystals. As a player who is playing for free I really don't like this, as it may mean having to dip into my crystal stash every day to complete dailies, which I really don't want to do, and make it harder to save up on crystals on the whole. I call cash grab BS too.

Someone on Reddit already counted, it will be something like 18-21 Marquees a year, which is on par with 19 this year. Edit: it looks like you were in a pretty foul mood for this video, but really, it's not all doom-and-gloom. Looks like a net positive for someone who just started out, and by default a negative for engame players that did all 8 Red boxes a month, but we need to see the offers in the new shop to assess if it will be compensated. As for whaling - it will be simply more on top. But I agree - we will have to see if what CG is saying is true. As I see it, with a 20$ monthly subscription I will be able to speed up new Marquees without buying their random amount shard packs from the store - that's a good thing for me, personally.

I just started in September and Im having a lot of fun. I treat this game as something on the side and I did want a battle pass but $20 a bit high for industry standards. Bo6 has a $10 battle pass. CG is crazy thinking $20 for the base premium pass is the way to go. I’ll still play the game but if the $20 is worth the amount of mats I’ll get to boost my account I’ll consider it.

I understand being hesitant about the update, but keep in mind we have been getting 5 or 6 marquees in a 3 month period for a while. Think of the gungans and poncho bros. We had 6 marquees, a legendary, and a conquest unit all within 3 months and people weren't complaining then. Even since its been an average of 5 or 6 marquees for every 3 month period which is exactly what they're proposing. It's just that now they have an exact cadence, something the community has been wanting for a while. There will still be the same amount of marquees within a year, and even if there is an extra one or two, if buying them breaks the bank, you shouldnt be spending on this game in the first place.

8:04 I understand this is a lot but I don’t understand why people complain about wanting more content and then when they get it they complain it’s too much. If it’s too much then get the Marquee toons and let them sit in your roster until it’s time to gear them up. There is definitely Kraken level stuff in here but still stuff for F2P. There’s nothing twisting your arm to buy the Episode passes or Conquest passes. That’s all a player preference and how big is your wallet. Just plan out your spending and buy the things you want, not everything.

@@nucphyschem1 I could be wrong but from the sounds of it the Episode Pass is a lot like the Conquest one. That would be content. We’ll obviously know more once it’s rolled out. Even if I’m confusing the two it still doesn’t makes sense why people are complaining. We get new toons and you as the player decide who to upgrade and when. Which in turn hopefully get used in these game modes, Raids, GC’s, TB’s and GAC and those toons are sometimes useful, like CUP. 😆 They have a direct correlation. As for the Assault Battle issue, I agree that was a dumb decision.

Nooch, I am equally as frustrated and as someone that spends $50 a month with some months going up to $100 I am considering quiting all spending. Not quiting game yet as I will see how the system works in practice but This update has really been off putting to me. The biggest issue seems to be around the Era and episode system dictating daily rewards. The new raid structure already pretty much killed passion projects/ farming chars you likee since you have to get new chars for raid and then RotE teams like inqs, JKCK, BKM which are massive kyro farms and add that in to 2 new marquees every month with a new journey character every 3 months. There is literally like no time for anyone to farm anything except for the new stuff otherwise you will be missing out on daily/weekly Episode/era rewards. This change is the final nail in the coffin for any passion project farming. And basically if you do not already have just assume you will never have it if you want to be competitive. Of course if you are a collector then it probably slows you down a bit but not too major.

you know what would have helped people understand this era's junk much better? If they would have put an actual calendar and shown us dates like era 1 will run from 11/19-2/19 or something episode 1 will run from 11/19 to 12/18 ep2 12/19 to 1/18 and ep 3 1/19 to 2/19 or something and repeat for when the marquees are going to be. Don't have to name the characters but show us chronologically what is going on. The fact the whole era's thing was a freaking paint object is insulting you are telling me a graphic designer at cg couldn't come up with one in 5 minutes that at least looked professional?

Spending money has always been optional in this game. 1 marquee every 2 weeks does seem like a lot. I don’t buy new marquee units so that doesn’t really affect me too much. Idk how to feel about the pass yet. I’ll need to see the rewards before deciding on it. I really like the simming on the events that weren’t able to be simmed before. I personally think it’s a nice update but I can see why people aren’t happy about the new pass and marquees

I don't see the point in them releasing characters faster than they can reasonably be built by the "average" player, as a continuing and successful business model. Eventually they will run out of new characters to release and good story lines. The average player makes up the player base. Once they run out of something to sell the whales, all they will have left is the average player, still trying to catch up to the whales. It is obvious that they plan to ride their cash cow into the ground. They see their own demise and instead of settling for a decent product to make a modest amount of money over the long term, they want to suck all of the money out of the whales as fast as they can and then I am concerned they will allow the game to turn into an unenjoyable and unplayable garbage heap, that they will longer want the expense of maintaining. That will leave all of us who put years of our lives and a lot of our money into our accounts, and we will never get a chance to see our work reach a completion or satisfying fruition.

So after some re reading. I'll give the episode pass plus a buy if it gives me a minimum of 25 new marquee shards.. I'd spend that much on crystals and probably get all 5's. It'll take from marquee spend of $150 down to 110.. so, if I can get my 7 star marquee for the same $150.. and get extra rewards.. then maybe.. still not a fan of one every 2 weeks though.. ashoka and baylen have been brutal.. im out of everything to relic and gear new characters.
