HUGE Wasp Nest UNDERGROUND | Yellow Jacket Nest

In this removal video I locate and excavate a large ground nest for a client! This was an Eastern Yellow Jacket species ( Vespula Maculifrons) which make subterranean nests, of brittle comb and envelope structures.
Once the nest is removed, I take it home and feed it to the girls whole! There, they tear it apart to consume most of the larvae!

What? No license?? LOL I follow up licensed pest control companies quite often who were unable or not equipped to handle certain situations. I have one scheduled for this week where a pest control company tried to tried to exterminate a honey bee colony in a garage wall and failed. I've yet to meet a pest control tech with the proper gear in their vehicle to keep themselves safe during yellow jacket or bee removals. That's where we come in. We're not competition for them. We're complimentary to their service when they decide to work with us. No license required in any state that I know of for this type work.

I cant like this comment more, Randy! So true! I get a ton of referrals from about 5 different Orkin Technicians, because they dont remove nests like we do. Its not their job to physically remove nests. So when they have an indwelling nest removal, they have the client call me. Its a great way to do business. I dont really understand this other guys way of thinking to put down guys like us who manage our own business so we can get the job done. Thanks for being a good KZbin friend, and Im always bringing up your channel to people in the comments who want to see bees!

@@nunya5230 in that regard, sometimes it is is necessary to cause damage to get to the nest. I was a licensed pest applicator for a pretty large and well known company. I agree with most of what you say but the stuff about the toxicity of black flag is ridiculous. Black flag uses .02% prallethrin and .05% cypermethrin. Both are chemicals and are toxic to the environment. Salt (sodium iodide) is toxic it has an ld50. EVERYTHING IS TOXIC. Please dont start spouting bs about the low toxicity of your stuff. It just as bad as the stuff pest techs use. That's probably why they give you crap. P.s. may be different in Pennsylvania but if you are applying chemical of any kind as part of a business transaction. Aka being paid to remove a pest and using something with an sds or label. You have to be licensed. If no chemical is used and only mechanical removal is done, you dont need one. Any use of a pesticide as part of a commercial transaction requires a state issued license. You can get in serious trouble for not having one and using stuff like black flag.
@HornetKingOfficial
@HornetKingOfficial 4 жыл бұрын
@@GojiButton As in medicine, toxicity isnt solely determined by chemical make up, but rather by volume of dose. Radiation poisoning can occur through xrays, but in small doses is considered safe for application. (As you know, Im a nurse). Even certain medications are toxic in SMALL doses. Digoxin is a heart med that is administered in the tiniest doses, but a shade higher and it is toxic and will send a person into cardiac arrest. The volume of Black Flag flying insect spray that I use is miniscule. Im also not saturating the ground with it. Exterminator Techs douse the ground and peoples homes with various sprays and dusts that are in significant doses that remain traceable in living spaces and ground well after the techs leave. I dont talk "BS" thank you. And I assume you take that attitude elsewhere. If you dont understand something, ask. Don't make assumptions and accusations towards me that Im trying to pull something over. I have nothing to gain lying to my viewers. As for whether or not I need licensed; according to the State, I do not, even with spraying black flag. I am not treating the site or property with chemicals, I am treating a swarm, in which is removed.

I went down a You Tube rabbit hole and came across your channel. I watched a few of your clips and became aware of your strong, ecologically sound principles (recycling larvae for your chickens for example) and, most importantly, your choice not to use pesticides and other toxins in your nest extractions/removals/eradications. I am so impressed that you have taken this stance in what is obviously a labour intensive and difficult task that could be made more "expedient" if you did choose chemicals. Your value on sustaining life and the joy you take in feeding your very spoilt and lucky "girls" what must be the eye fillet of diets is heartwarming. The effort you put into educating people about the interior life of these various wasp species and their nests has been, for me, fascinating. So thank you for sharing your green philosophy of wasp nest removal (and green isn't a dirty word except in the mouths of tawdry politicians btw). You should tell the so-called "licensed" pest controllers they are an outdated 20th century vestige of what should be an outlawed chemical solution to wasp control when it is so evidently toxic to the environment. I mean who does not know about the effects of toxic chemicals leaching into the ground water table by now ffs. Keep up the great work ... your method should be Standard Operating Practise ... unfortunately greed, expediency and ignorance seem to wilfully blind most practitioners. Greetings from New Zealand (locked down in Covid-19 social isolation)

Why? Because there’s two kinds of business people, those like you and those other people. You know your business is important and you are always working to improve. Video content. Video editing. You’re thinking about it, probably while driving to and from your next job. You compete by doing the best job you know how. You offer to fill in the hole like you did here. Maybe you’d worry if the market was over saturated with wasp removal companies but chances are you’d up your game (again& you’ve always upped your game, it’s just the way you are as a business person). Your reputation means something. That’s where you protect by doing a good job and offering lots of customer service. Those other guys look down on you because they think you’re in their territory. That you’re taking business away from them. That it “belongs” to them. They’ll compete with you by being disrespectful, by running you down and by making it seem like they’re more qualified than you are. Look at your numbers. You’re competitive and they don’t like that I’d call you rather than them. They liked it much better when the industry was just them. Because they consider wasps terrible and useless. They “save“ people like me from those terrible wasps. You save the customer AND the wasps if you can. But if you can’t, you entertain us with the girls and Humphrey. I only watched ONE video from someone else. I was shocked when I realized you’d converted me. That I do want to see them saved. Or I love seeing them eaten by the chickens. The nests you remove aren’t a poisonous mess & you’re not laughing as you gleefully murder as many as you can with poison that will be all over the place by the time they’re done. If you notice, at least I have, there really are 2 kinds of businesses. Those that run above board and most important they’re always positive honest and they have FUN doing what they do. Those other guys just don’t. I see it with virtually every business, especially here on KZbin I don’t have any businesses any more. But I hope that I’ve fallen in your same category.

I'm just a really crunchy person who loves the earth and takes pride that around our house is free of pollution enough to have toads and salamanders in the wild. Your method of limited chemicals and just removing the nest, using that in turn to feed your chickens and squirrley squirrel just hits so many good points in my book. Keep the environment safe, and recycle. Even if that means feeding larvae to hungry critters. Keep doing you!

Ppl will always have something negative to say. Nothing is wrong with your wasp removal method. It doesn't take harsh chemicals. The vacuum works just fine.
