MASSIVE Yellow Jackets Nest and STUNG! Wasp Nest Removal

This colony of German Yellow Jackets (Vespula germanica-anthic) carved up their empire within this clients closet wall! They were well protected in this structure but needed to be removed. Despite German yellow jackets being the more docile species I deal with, they still STUNG ME! Punks!
I brought the nest homes, and fed it to my animals!

I love how happy, tame and well looked after your animal friends are, and the fact that despite at least one of your birds (the smaller emu, not the rhea) being deformed/ disabled, you allowed it to live a happy and full life where most people (at least where i come from) would have euthanised it, which is sad, but that's proof that despite having deformations/ disabilities, they can still live a happy life

Here in the United States, euthanasia is performed when the likelihood for recovery is poor, and the condition cannot be effectively relieved by best species management and medically appropriate procedures. It would be immoral, and illegal to euthanize an animal that is healthy, except in slaughter facilities already governed by federal or state law, or in certain cases of ritual slaughter.

I enjoy watching the colony removals, but everytime one of them is on the camera lens or buzzes just right....sends chills up my spine. Yeah, I'm weird. haha. Hopefully I never need this type of service...but it's good to know there are people out there who can handle it! I'm allergic to wasps, and love birds of all kinds. I definitely approve of removing wasp nests and using them to feed chickens and emus. Taking something that causes me a lot of pain and makes me have to be careful where I go in my own back yard, and feeding it to a bunch of cute birds. Keep up the good work!

Hi Hornet King! I know you probably know this but, if you get stung or bitten by an insect, running the bite zone/sting zone under very hot water (as hot and for as long as you can tolerate), the heat denatures the proteins in the venom/saliva and can quickly alleviate pain and discomfort and prevent it from spreading. Mosquitoes adore me and when i get bitten, I get hard-core welts that itch like CRAZY and they throb after a while and I have never had a time where hot hot water hasn't helped. I did it for a wasp sting one time too and it worked like a charm

I didn’t realise the old queen died off. I thought once the new queens and males had left and the workers had died, she also went off and hibernated to start again the following year. Really interesting. Thanks for explaining :)

I’ve been stung several times in my youth. Mostly on my feet because I liked being barefoot. I’ve found that wet baking soda wrapped in a paper towel very helpful. My sister & one of my daughter’s is severely allergic. Thankfully epi pens were created!

When I used to ride motorcycles on the street I would occasionally get stung by honey bees. I would pull to the side of the road when safe and tear open a fresh cigarette and rub the tobacco into the wound after scraping the stinger out. It would take the pain out of the sting and lessen the swelling. I didn't smoke but I always carried a couple of cigarettes with me when riding.
