Love this video, also!! As a native man!! Burning sage is *completely fine* whats not so great to do as a non native, is use our specific rituals/methods/practices of using the herb. If yer just burning it for witchy/spiritual uses, thats completely cool! But I would 100% suggest looking to source sage from native-owned businesses :)

Can I please ask a question? Why should we purchase our herbs from Native resources if we cannot/should not do Native rituals/methods/practices?
@tobias23802 жыл бұрын
@@judethaddeus9856 Sage specifically needs to be responsibly harvested, and overharvesting done by big corporations and people who take advantage of new spiritual people and movements will decimate the plant and its habitat over time. It's just generally a respect thing as it is one of our sacred herbs, and supporting native businesses is good spiritual practice.

You dont like tea, you don't like the smell of the healing plants, you dont know the shells, and how to work with the pendulum, you dont know the typical minerals and you dont use palo santo, and you believe that Buddha is a God. I am just interested in which kind of witch you are. You buy these boxes, you say is the best you had so far, but you said you dont use not even the half of it. So I am confused with you. Love your videos! Absolutely love them. I do want to add a comment and I know it's a little bit controversial but I've been practicing witchcraft since I was 15. So now over 20 years and I know that there is this big movement. That intention is everything. But in my experience and opinion, I'm not saying that intention is not a huge part of witchcraft, but there are other factors that go into witchcraft. Just to say intention is everything is like saying well you can go wish on that star and you'll win the lottery or you can go wish on the star and you'll get a job. There are other factors that have to come into play such as energy and spiritual forces,timing and other outside influences. And then you also have the mundane influences that have to come into play. So the statement intention is everything is very misleading ,in my opinion, because it's a statement that is so vague that it really is very misleading. I understand the concept behind it and yes you do not have to buy anything. Everything that you need for witchcraft is all around you. If you walk through your house and really opened yourself up and said I need to spell to do this and allow your higher self to guide you. You will find what you need in your house, Walking down the street to your job ,walking your dog. You will find what you need. There is no need to buy anything . Intention is about 70% but you also have the other 30% which are energy, the mundane and other spiritual forces. Whether it be entities, spiritual timing and even other peoples energy and spiritual forces can affect it. So that's the only thing I want to add. I understand where the concept is coming from. Like I said and it's a very good concept to want to convey that you don't need to buy anything but it would really be easier to say you don't have to buy anything because everything you need is around you and if you ask you will find it. This is just my personal opinion and experience. Not trying to to hate on anybody that believes that intention is everything but I just wanted to bring that up just in case there are people out there that are saying oh well. I'm using every bit of my intention and it's not working that what I have come to find that is intention is not everything. It is a lot but not everything again. Love your videos. Keep doing what you do. The excitement of witchcraft in your eyes is reinvigorating to someone who's been practicing for 20 years. So you inspire all. Keep up the good work.

Kinda late: white sage is apart of a closed practice and can only be used if you’re Native American. The Sage you have is open to use by everyone. I’m not native. A lot of big companies sell white sage and it’s safe to guess that it is harvested unethically. If you do have white sage giving it back to they Earth is the best thing to do since the plant is being over harvested to the point where natives can’t use it.

I think this idea of "cultural appropriation" has gone too far. You don't accuse somebody who's not Chinese or Mexican of cultural appropriation because they're eating Chinese or Mexican food right? So why accuse somebody of cultural appropriation just because they're burning sage? It's not like you're dressing up in a headdress and actually doing some Native American ancestor dance ritual. A lot of the things we do in today's society has been invented or ripped off from other countries and cultures and we don't even know it! Another point is that a lot of us in American society have mixed lineage. So with me, being 1/32 Cherokee Indian do I not qualify to burn sage because my skin is white and someone may get offended that I'm not "native" enough to do so? I think we as a society need to be more tolerant and stop accusing everyone of "cultural appropriation" just because we can and use some common sense. Yes, there are things that can be blatantly offensive but simply burning sage or having/liking a different hairstyle that is not within in your culture shouldn't qualify.

Not burning sage, smudging with white sage. Smudging is a closed practice and white sage is endangered and being stolen from natives, who have used it in their culture for centuries, by people selling it for cleansing. However, smoke cleansing is not closed and so many practices use smoke cleansing. And there are many other types of sage you can use instead of white sage (blue sage, tricolor sage, purple sage etc.)
