People criticize Grant for being too dry or rigid, but he's also very self-aware - and that's MUCH more than can be said for most celebrities.

The people who do that are just Americans who don't understand British dry deadpan humor. They can be safely ignored.

The thing I've noticed about Hugh that I haven't really seen in any other actor that's been around for a while, is growth not just as an actor but as a person. He's always been erudite and witty, but he's just more comfortable with himself now. I think that's helped his acting and given him range. It's lovely to see.
@catasandoval8490Күн бұрын
Indeed! He's gotten more and more interesting with age, too! I didn't care too much for him in his earlier acting years 😂
@bmf194919 сағат бұрын
Agree, he didn’t really seem to act much in those romcom films, but has branched out in recent years ( he’s great in Paddington 2, and the tv series A very English Scandal for example)

Hugh Grant has always been a fantastic comedic character actor but he got pigeon-holed as the foppish, romantic lead early in his career. Now that he's older and he's in the "I don't giving a flying f*ck" phase of his career, he is easily poised to be this generation's version of Walter Matthau and I'm totally here for it.
