Yep. No competition between them really... Bobby's kinda like the dark horse of the comics. Could be epic, but his crippling self doubt prevents him from reaching full potential. Human Torch's powers are limited and lets be honest, he's easily injured and easily put out. (I do actually like Johnny though...) Meanwhile, Bobby's an Omega level mutant. Recently he's branched off from just ice-powers to being able to control water on a molecular level (in all states), so has the potential to become god-tier threat/character considering 71% of Earth is covered in water and this figure doesn't include moisture and water vapour. He was cold enough to stop a nuclear explosion and yep ^ freeze hell. Even Thor was pretty wary of his ice. Not to mention he could be basically immortal? He's been able to revive himself from a water-vapour/molecular state and just reform himself...

Actually this has been slowly developing since the 60's. he's only one of a very few Omega levels and hardly uses his powers fully. Plus he has limitations and his personal weakness is that he didn't reach this potential on his own, he either needed Apocalypse or Emma Frost to unlock it, because he's not naturally creative enough to utilise his gifts fully.

And he's hardly in the league of the truly op and Mary Sue characters of the Universe. He has faults and a personality that counterbalances what he can potentially do. He's not an all out perfect character, hardly the one that's tends to get the girl( but there's a reason for that now so) or anywhere near the strongest. He never really plays the part of the guy or girl in unending distress. He's just a very steady, long term core member of the X-Men, who very few times has even been a leader and happens to be an Omega level. Having vast power doesn't make you a Mary Sue off the bat, there's other factors. Especially not when the development was as slow and gradual as Bobby's. But yeah, he is way above Storm. There do actually have to be some Omega class mutants in the Universe. He just happens to be one of them.

I love both of these characters so much, I used to match them up in my head all the time. But I’d definitely have to go with Iceman. The guy is an Omega level mutant, he’s frozen all of Hell, and an entire city. He can heal any damage he takes, and on top of all that he can’t die. Human Torch may be able to do something similar by elevating his heat to such a level that anything thrown at him just immediately melts, but if that doesn’t work he has no real way of defending against damage.

Liked this a lot. Objective, evidence supplied, logical breakdown, no issue admitting when characters are evenly matched. Looks like a pretty good start to me (this is the first of your videos I've seen and I'm gonna go watch more now. +1like . In light of some new(ish) feats for Iceman, its entirely likely that he could feasibly defeat Johnny if both were going all out. Having said that, if they were both opperating at their more "standard" levels, Human Torch would still probably win.

How do you win against an immortal who can suck all the moisture out of your body? The video only addressed the cold vs hot but Bobby does a lot more than manipulate temperature. If Torch vaporizes Iceman then Bobby sucks out all the moisture in Johnny until Johnny turns to dust. He's actually done that in the comics to another being to reform. As far as hot vs cold. Bobby has frozen things as hot or hotter than Johnny in the comics. He frozen a nuclear fusion reactor explosion the equivilant of the suns heat at ground zero in the middle of the explosion. He froze over a fire dimension labled as Hell.. FROZE THE WHOLE THING. He's frozen Celestial tech and has even frozen abstract level opponents. He's frozen light. Iceman takes this easily.

It comes down to "who shoots first," essentially. If Iceman encases torch in a mound of ice 20 stories high, and 20 stories wide, torch can flame-on all he wants, he will just be covered in freezing cold water and more ice coming down on him, especially if iceman is continually regenerating the melting ice. It has been shown before that torch cannot flame on while under water. That's what he will basically be in if he tries to flame on while encased inside a mountain of ice. However, if Torch hits Iceman with a giant nova blast of flame and holds it on him, Iceman wouldn't be able to reform. Atleast not immediately.

To answer the question about how sucking the heat out of someone freezes them: All matter has an energy associated with it. This energy can be referred to as enthalpy, potential energy, brownian motion, etc. The point is, everything has energy, and therefore some sort of heat. One of the laws of thermodynamics states that a perfect crystal is formed only at absolute zero, which is zero kelvin (which has never been reached as far as we know), and it is at this temperature that all matter has no energy, and thus freezes. Or if you'd like, you can remember that cold is simply the absence of heat. In fact when something freezes, such as water, it is because so much energy has been taken out of it that the molecules stop moving long enough that they can interact and form stronger bonds with each other. An object melts because when heat is applied to them, enough energy is given such that these bonds can be broken.

Both control atoms to either excite them and create heat or stop them for extreme cold. Pretty sure with their level of control there isn't anything either could do to the other that they couldn't nullify. It's hard cause both Torch and Iceman have done some colossal shit in late game. If stopping Torch's atoms won't kill him, and excited Iceman's atoms won't kill him.. It would have to come down to who has more control over the atoms. Absolute zero is a finite number. No matter what number Torch can excite the atoms to, Iceman just has to bring them back to zero. So it depends on who has more control over them. In which the best either could do is trap and hold them in that state.

It has been shown in a comic issue that Iceman can reform his body from the water vapor or the water inside his opponent he was in an alternate universe was just his head and then he killed one of the opponents by taking the water from his body while the person was still alive to reform his whole body so he can actually do that to the Human Torch just dissipate his water molecules

This was a great video, very informative and well-researched! That being said, I disagree about the outcome. While fire would theoretically have a major advantage over ice, Iceman simply has a far greater control and manipulation of Ice and Human Torch does of fire. Iceland actually froze over hell once (yes, THE hell). On top of that, Iceman can’t actually be killed in a traditional sense because he can simply reform himself endlessly, so Human Torch can’t keep him down.

The comics took Iceman's creative abilities to a whole new level. Don't think they did that with Johnny did they? Retro Torch beats retro Iceman imo (flight, speed, supernova, etc)--- but Alpha level Iceman probably does stuff I haven't even read about yet. Modern day Bobby Drake beats modern day Johnny Storm.

I still think IceMan would win because of the fact that Torch doesn't have the stamina to keep up with IceMan, plus IceMan has his own form of rejuvenation which Torch doesn't. Those 2 factors can ultimately be the deciding factor favoring IceMan in the long run

Agreed. If Bobby is by a large body of water, water main, he can use the water to regenerate and attack human torch. H-T is also a mutant, created by cosmic Ray exposure. But is he Omega level ? Almost, but not quite. A lot depends on the environment that the fight happens in . Johnny might even temporary vaporize Bobby, but he'd have to use everything up in a Nova blast..a stalemate until Bobby's regeneration kicks in... couldnt he simply reform and take out the temporarily weakened HT ?
