You can use a rubber band around the containers for stability when pouring and to get rid of the divet in the middle, just lightly run a heat gun over the top. It will fill in the divet/hole and give a smooth top to the balm. Hugs from Texas!! : )

Thanks! It's hard to create recipes for ailments I haven't experienced/don't know anybody who suffers from, which is why I don't have anything specifically for arthritis or fibromyalgia. I always want to be sure something works before publishing it, of course, so it needs to be tested... so I need willing test subjects.

You can use lip safe flavour oils, but those are different from fragrance oils, which should not be used in lip products. Happy making!

Could I use shea butter in place of the mango butter? And also, I made another one of your lip balm recipes (can't remember which one), and I think it called for an oxide or carmine, neither of which I had on hand so I used a Bordeaux mica and a silver mica...it looks colored in the tube, but really leaves no color on the lips....is that because I used a mica and not an oxide...I'm understanding, based on what you mentioned in this video, it wouldn't really be any different if I used a larger quantity of the Bordeaux...I wouldn't get a more intense color because it's mica? Correct?

I just want to ask, what is the maximum percentage of iron oxide incase i want the balm to be more tinted? I've used 40-50% oxide before to create things that are extremely pigmented (think liquid eyeliner). You don't need that much pigment for something like this, but you could use that much if you wanted to. Include titanium dioxide in that percentage, as that's basically just the percentage of pigment. You can use this lip balm daily, though I am not sure of the percentage of pigment here-it would vary with what you selected as a pigment as they have different densities and strengths. And yes, you can combine vit. E, peppermint eo, iron oxide and titanium dioxide. Happy making!

hello. i have made the lipsticks using only cocoa butter, coconut oil, beeswax and oxides and now my lipsticks have fatbloom ☹️☹️ how can i prevent this??? maybe a long time in the hot water? my water wasn't too hot but it did take me a long time to dilute the oxides. I have also put it in ice water afterwards

what is the purpose of essential oils ?? as you have used oils already before warming step and you are really amazing and funny :)) and your videos are really into the point

Essential oils are not in the same category as carrier oils at all-they are totally different things with completely different composition. Carrier oils (the ones we melt) are lipid based oils-fats. They're the same sort of thing you cook with; olive oil, canola oil, sunflower oil, etc. are all true oils. Essential oils are volatile highly fragrant compounds that contain no lipids and are not fats or true oils. We use EOs for scent and sometimes for the benefits of the potent compounds that create them, but you'd never fry an onion in an essential oil. So, asking why you use EOs when you've already used carrier oils is like asking why you're putting sugar in a cake when there's already flour in there :)

The weight of the base is 34g, yes-that does not include the weight of the pigments or essential oil, though, and I do not have that.

No; there are no berries of any kind in this...? The name is because the colour is berry like, please do not add food. No amount of preservatives will make it safe, it won't emulsify, and it will oxidize and turn brown.

Unfortunately that's not a simple answer; the entire base of the recipe gives a glossy/oily look as the entire base is oils. The entire recipe would need to be re-developed with a matte finish in mind.

Hi. If I want to make a tinted lip balm that is more pigmented, how much oxide powder should I add? A teaspoon? 1/2 a teaspoon?

I'd recommend adding more pigment slowly until you've reached the pigmentation level you want; I highly doubt it'll be as much as a teaspoon, but I don't know how much colour your want. Stay tuned for tomorrow's recipe, too :)

That sounds like far more mess than I'd want to clean up :P The liquid balm solidifies almost immediately on contact with anything that's not quite hot, so from my experience you'd end up with a brick of lip balm in your baster.
