Surely would own the rallycross and be quicker than the mustang in autocross. But of course it's a truck and weighs 4,440 lbs. Would have been a really odd curveball in the competition. They go for $3000-$5000.

Go full bolt-ons including bbk 78mm throttle body, bigger fuel pump, I used an svt pump had trouble with fit & function of a walbro, some 3:73s, subframe connectors, axle girdle, driveshaft loop, good shocks, a 150 shot of nitrous with a nos rpm activated window switch & a wot switch, a short throw shifter, a good clutch kit, a billet clutch quadrant with firewall adjuster, my favorite mod a roush shifter handle, by far the best mod I ever did, it curves back towards the driver & makes it way easier to shift gears & hit 3rd & 5th when under heavy acceleration, for tires if you want more street friendly then go with Mickey Thomas ET Street S/S, if more track dedicated but still street legal go ET Street R. A 275/40 is the widest tire you can run on the stock 17x8 wheels, for a 305/45 wide tire the narrowest wheel is 9" wide, but both of those are at the limit of what's acceptable & I have personally ran. & only because the taller sidewall gives a little more leeway on tire to rim width. If you wanted a lower profile tire than that, you would have to get a wider rim. The sidewall height affects the acceptable rim width in accordance with the tire width. I ran 275/40 Mickey ET Street Radials on stock wheels in back, I think they've been replaced tho, the ET Street S/S is more streetish than my ET Street Radials were but the Et Street R is more track than my Radials were. So pick between the 2 based on if you want more street or track. I ran for 2yrs 5k rpm clutch dump on the 150 shot at the track, made alot of passes till eventually the rearend broke & then the trans, put an Eaton true posi in it with Richmond gears & Moser axles with a girdle, & had my t45 fully built, it has bigger & stronger internals & better gearing than the t3650, only advantage the 3650 has is bigger input shaft. My t45 had the 10 spline input shaft cut off & 26 spline welded on, carbon syncros, cryo treated shift forks, steel guides, it was rated to handle 750hp. Car ran high 11s reliably around 450whp & setup as a street/weekend strip toy with full weight a/c, flip out touch screen & subwoofers & amp. Later installed a procharger & ran it for years, sold the car perfect to a dmb 20yr old who totaled it.

@patrickpl942 жыл бұрын
This is a fun series. I grew up in the 2v and ls1/lt1 era. So I know this rivalry pretty well since I was in it myself with a 2v back in the day. From past experience, the 2v already lost to the ls1 before the competition even began. However, with some dedication I know the potential here. With how light these cars were, some guys on the forums used to be deep in the 12s and in high 11's with crazy gearing (~4.56s), weight reduction, welded axle tubes and a good set of control arms, welded torque boxes and of course some great driver mod. I know that doesn't sound "fast" by modern standards, but back in the mid to late 2000's that was a big deal. Of course, if you had a Fbody with an LS, you were one hot cam away from deep 11s without much effort. At that point the only option to stay competitive was boost.
@HumbleMechanic2 жыл бұрын

Yeah the LS1 is a monster. But a high reving 4.6 with a good power-adder is no slouch.
@patrickpl942 жыл бұрын
@@TeensierPython Typically the high reving variant of the 4.6 would be the 4v version. When you talk 4v, that's more cobra and mach1 territory. Those rev to 7k from the factory. The 2v typically doesn't like getting pushed much past 6k unless you have some valvetrain work done to it. But that doesn't mean you can't squeeze power out of them. I almost had 500whp out of mine with light valvetrain work and 10psi of boost. Quite an accomplishment with the stock bottom end. Good enough to trap 120mph in the 1/4 which is almost on par with my bigger turbo mk7 golf R

@ryans56152 жыл бұрын
This looks awesome. I have a 2000 Mustang GT, and I'm sorry, but you've probably picked the worst car, honestly. I'm sure you've got much of this series already recorded, but you'll want to spend some extra money for the subframe connectors. For those that don't know, the Mustang has two subframes (front and rear) connected only by the unibody. The subframe connectors connect the two subframes and make it stiffer, which will allow the car to handle better because the two will cease twisting in different directions from each other. I couldn't get a good enough look underneath, but it doesn't look like there are any there. And look into a pandhard bar. Unfortunately, unless all you're doing is drag racing, the solid rear axle is going to be the biggest weakness. Lowering the gearing from like 3.17 or whatever to even 3.73 will wake it up a ton, giving it the acceleration it really should have. Ford really compromised *A LOT* on this car, making it everything to everyone and end up with something that is evenly poor in every possible way. You'll definitely need a better driver's seat too. They don't have any side bolstering - they're basically a bench seat cut in half. And unless you're shorter than 4'10", it won't even support your neck if you get rear ended. Lastly, at the very least, get rid of the stock springs. Coilovers would be ideal, but those can get expensive. The ride is too sketchy stock. When you start really cornering, it takes it a while to get settled in, as it's trying to be smooth like a limo or something over bumps. It's fine as long as you always drive on a perfectly smooth road and never intend to corner it at all. And even then, there's a lot to be desired to get it to hook correctly if you're making the car into a dedicated drag car. I really liked the first series, and I am looking forward to this one as well! Best of luck to everyone!
