The only reason Mustangs are so popular to build is because the aftermarket is strong because it is was the only performance car FoMoCo in the 80's, yeah the 9th gen T-bird and Cougar were popular, but they were popular to the 35 and older crowd for the most part and yeah there was the Ford Probe but it didn't come out until 1988, it was JUST BARELY an 80's car. Ford but all it's eggs in the Mustang basket and that allowed for a large aftermarket. Where as GM had the 3rd gen Camaro/Firebird, they had the G-Bodies and then Cadillac was doing it's thing with the Northstar Program. I don;t hate Mustangs but I don't think I'll ever redo one simply because that was it as far as FoMoCo of most of my childhood and teenage years.

That thing had obviously been rode hard. Great video. And I'll say one thing, I love a GT Mustang or a Cobra like anyone else, but that generation of Mustang with that 6 cylinder engine was a tough unit. We've had two in the family over the years. With regular maintenance, besides a single coil pack replacement in one of them (still ran, just had an obvious misfire), they fired up every time and would take you anywhere you needed to go. They were pretty spirited engines back in the day for a six cylinder, lol.
