People like to make fun of the h2 but they hold their value like a mf and actually still are fairly decent at off roading whilst being a lot more usable overall

Hummer H2 is a great SUV. It is very comfortable, real off-road vehicle, not expensive in maintenance & looks so cool in any color. It is still way better, than most modern SUVs. When General-Motors stopped production - Hummers, it was their big mistake. They must continue the production - Hummers. Hummer H2 is my second favorite vehicle. First is Ford Excursion.

The hummer died off for a reason. They didn't just ditch it cuz they felt like it. It needed to go.

The 5th Gear Episode featuring the HUMMER H2 is gone. Can't find it anywhere, I suppose it got removed by copyright claim. If you can locate it, let me know in reply.
@n3d.studio4 жыл бұрын
Well I found it on the web now so I have a copy of it, hard to find, but I'm not sure if I should upload it or not. Wondering why it's gone, maybe it was taken down by copyright. I also have the Top Gear Clarkson review of the H2, only the H1 part is on YT.

“The engine is mated to a MANLY 4 speed transmission”. He forgot to mention with a flimsy linkage that is dependent on a plastic washer connecting the shifter to the trans lever underneath the truck. It cracked and broke off in my driveway (I’m so lucky). Imagine a beefy $60k vehicle disabled due to a single plastic washer in the shift linkage that you can’t even buy by itself. You have to buy it in an assorted washers set for line $12. So really, my Hummer was disabled because of a 5 cent washer.

Did they eventually fix this issue with the later models? Mine is a 2007.
@zigman19762 жыл бұрын
@@kevinjwelch1024 I don’t know but The H2 has enough ground clearance so you can crawl under it , if it’s too low you can jack it up or drive one side up on the curb to give you a couple of inches). Find the end of the linkage where it connects to the lever arm on the trans and check the condition of the bushing(if any). If there is one and it looks old or dry-ish go to advance and buy an assorted pack of transmission linkage bushings. One of them will fit and replace it if it’s bad or keep it in the H2 for the day it may break on you. It’s only like $12.

can the back seats move/slide back? what about fuel economy, liters to kilometers? in a forum, i read that h2 tie rods are weak and break during offroad. any comments from anyone. h2 or h3?
@n3d.studio5 жыл бұрын
2nd row and 3rd row are locked. Only front row can move. Fuel eco is 10-14mpg. Tie rods. I have stock tie rods, haven't broken yet. They've been tested to 9k lbs before they break. They are smallish. It's a heavy truck so depends on how rough you are with it. Take it easy they're fine, but tie-rods aren't that expensive. Love my H2.

@@n3d.studio ok. why a h2, why not a h3? for such a big car it has no room for passengers. have you ridden in the back? have you driven a h3? how is the power difference and difference in general? it is a fuel guzzler is not it? yes i am still doing my own research
@n3d.studio5 жыл бұрын
@@jonnydazzels1565 No, haven't driven/owned h3. I prefer the H2 because I need the 3rd row and it's bigger. I was thinking about putting a full 3rd row in it for 7 passengers. I also have a Ford Expedition. Here's the difference in interior space. The second row has about 2 inches more room between the seats in Expedition. And in the back there is about 4 inches more room behind the 3rd row and hatch for items. It seats 8. i can have two bags in the expedition behind 3rd row and in the Hummer, not really room for anything behind 3rd seat, but with only 6 seats there's the space where the tire goes since I have it on the back. Jeeps/Hummers, they're built for off-road so they don't put the tire underneath, but on the back or inside. If you want a people mover, get a van or regular suv/crossover. On the H2 there's less overhang after rear axle. I've ridden in the second row, it's very comfortable and plenty of room. My H2 actually does slightly better than expedition on fuel on highway, about the same in town. H3 will be a little better on fuel.

@@n3d.studio i do not know what to do. i really had my mind set on a hummer h3 but lately i am thinking h2. after reading your comment i checked the expedition and i am looking at other cars such as the toyota fj cruiser. what puts me off the hummer h3 is the engine. 5cylinder straight or straight 5cylinder, how to word it. i like hummers. i want to remove the back seats and put a car fridge in there. . . i have some ideas that are a bit hard to explain while keeping the message shorter than what it might be. does the h3 have the power to pull itself up long hills on the toll roads at high speeds? sorry for the questions etc. thanks for the answers. now you wish you never replied 😅✌
@n3d.studio5 жыл бұрын
@@jonnydazzels1565 Ok, long post here sorry. We've had our expedition since 2013, it's a 2000. Got rear-ended and bent the frame but we fixed it and kept the insurance money, lol. It didn't sustain any body damage so why not? It's a good vehicle, reliable we'll run it till it dies. But I don't think it could go places the H2/H3's could go, it's just a people mover for the wife. I'd check out hummerforums and ask some ?'s on there. Some thing's are better on the expedition vs H2 like the door panels. Light plastic in H2, harder plastic in expedition. GM really went cheap in places, door panels and the gear shifter. I mean how much would it cost to add a full metal gear shift? The dash I don't mind, but the doors crack easy. Doors could have been better. But in other places the H2 is better. The seats are awesome, 4 way heated seats too. But then the climate control, no air to the back only first two rows and they have dual climate split on the left and right. Expedition is front and rear which makes perfect since. You guys need more air back there? It seems like you're leaning toward an H3, if you don't need the extra room or size the H3 is still pretty good, supposed to be able to do most everything the H2 can and I wanted one for awhile too but need something bigger, that's how I sold it to the wife, lol. I've looked at the FJ before, that second row entry is tight. It's tight back there on the H3's too but I don't think there's as much room on the FJ's. I'd go H3 over FJ any day. 3.5/3.7L engine 220-242hp, that's enough, they weigh less than 5k lbs you'll zip along easy, I know it's odd 5 cylinders, but pretty reliable. Now weirdly in my H2 on highway with cruise control on, it doesn't like to upshift like it should after coming over a hill. It stays in 3rd too long. I know it's not a power issue, it just won't upshift back into 4th like it should, have to tap the gas and let off then it shifts up then reset cruise, kind of annoying. Took it on a trip to New Mexico last summer, it was great, plenty of room for 4 people and gear. 3.5/3.7 I think that's an iron block too like the 6.0, should last forever. My brother has a Disco, it looks pretty fancy, that pretty teal color paint and all, but it's sitting in the garage with engine problems. Faulty head bolts or something. That's what I keep hearing on Land Rovers, can't make engines that are reliable. The 5.4 in the expedition, great motor, lots of power, it will go forever same with the Duramax 6.0. Ford and GM pretty good, post-1998, Chrysler, not so much, lol. Yeah, if your budget is like mine, under 10k look at what you need first, make sure it crosses off those on the list. When I get in the expedition and drive it, I end up giving it too much gas, I'm used to the H2 which isn't quite as responsive. It's much lighter only 5800 lbs. Weight makes all the difference. Also doesn't stop as good, my pedal is a bit soft on top, have to press it down a little before it reacts. I can tell it's heavier than expedition for sure. Lots of H3's for sale in the 7-8k range. I don't think they look quite as good as the H2, but put some bigger tires on there and it'd look pretty sweet. I'm not much on the FJ looks, from a distance they look boxy and rugged but up close, not so great. H2's look great from any angle but I'm biased I guess. I really want an H1 but that probably won't happen. Also the H3T but they only built like 5k of them so they hold their value and will probably be a collector's car. I'd just buy another F150, it's just a truck for hauling anyway. The H2 SUT, now that's an odd one. I think they look really cool, I even want one a little but I don't think it's really usable. That 3 foot bed is sort of pointless, too short wheelbase for a truck, might as well have it as interior space. I'm 5'11" and I put the 2nd row seats down in H2, and I can lay down in the back so I could sleep in it if I needed too. But the SUT, they look good though, I just think it's better to have that space enclosed. I'm selling my mustang and I want to buy another H2, plan on keeping them a long time. All this talk about the H3, I'm looking at those now, ahh but I need bigger. Have to go with H2. GM should bring back the brand not just the name like they are, they can still do the electric truck thing, but they won't sell too many of those. They should bring back the H3 size first. Need to drop the numbers though and just give it a name. Put the new 6 cylinder 3.0 turbo diesel motor in it. Then bring back the H2-full sized suv also diesel this time around. You can't replace this with electric right now. Don't even try. They can still offer electric but I think they'd sell in small numbers. GM needs to hire me, I'll run HUMMER. Bring it back properly.
