Love all things hummus. I still use tahini, but will try this version as well. For a nice salad dressing, combine 1 cup hummus with 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 1/4 cup water, and 1 tablespoon dried dill. Delish!

Yum! Nothing wrong with Engine2 hummus, but I gotta say hummus is so easy to make you shouldn't ever need to buy it. If you've got an instant pot you can make a huge, salt free load of garbanzo beans and freeze them in jars. Cheaper than cans and so much more delicious! Soak for 24 hours in cold water before cooking!
@DelnoraandWes5 жыл бұрын
I like adding a roasted sweet potato to my hummus. also lately I've been preferring northern white beans to actual garbanzo beans. gets creamier in the food processor. Great vid!

Have to say veganism is where it is at for health. I do not see why the Alzheimer's Association isn't saying that veganism is such a preventative for dementia. My dad died with Alzheimer's and his father did also. They were farmers. Need I say that my dad did not give up meat or dairy. I gave that up over ten years ago. Been full-on vegan for going on 3 years. Made such a positive impact on my health and my husband's. And no depression. I've suffered from depression for much of my life. It is like having joy... who knew! Love it and it is indeed outrageously fun to cook.

Yes it’s rather unfortunate that the association just sent out an email saying there is a pharmaceutical company who is releasing a drug for Alzheimer’s, but with that drug, there still will be side effects. Eating plant based can help with so many dis-eases, but Big Pharma has such a hold on the doctors and politicians.

@@Bubblegumswitch Yes and apparently some of the scientists involved with this new drug quit because they said-- not only does it have side effects --but it doesn't work. The sad thing and also dangerous thing is is that science has become like politics which means that when a person disagrees and they have a sense of the North⭐ Star shall we say, guiding their morality, they simply quit which leaves the public at an even greater loss because the few confrontational Minds who have a sense of right and wrong r now gone from the public stage

Some smoked paprika is a good hummus addition. I make my own hummus to avoid the oils and other additives in store-bought hummus. I do use tahini; it's just ground sesame seeds and a good source of calcium.
@southernliturgicalsllc49752 жыл бұрын
Dont you use oil in making tahini and that is why Jane does not use tahini in their hummus? If you dont use oil what do you use if you make your own tanini?
@naomihad2 жыл бұрын
@@southernliturgicalsllc4975 No tahini is just ground sesame seeds. It's a seed so it has its own oil just like peanuts and almonds for nut butters.

My favorite hummus mix is: roasted red pepper, LOTS of garlic, nutritional yeast, either yellow mustard or Dijon, depending on my mood. Then I mix it up and add some of the aqua faba or the water that the roasted red peppers come in. Perfect anytime and I LOVE to use it as a spread substitute.
