The whistle blower claim is nonsense. Just look at his reaction to the initial officers who approached him. A “whistle blower” who did it for “a platform” would say “yeah, I was expecting you, I did it but let’s sit down because I need to tell people why…” Instead, he was visibly irritated and just said “not answering any questions, I want a lawyer, done.” And it’s a widespread myth that dead bodies are a big health hazard. In reality, a dead body is much, much LESS likely to transmit an infectious disease than a living human. Bodies should obviously be treated properly out of respect and public decency, but it’s nonsense that they are some huge health threat compared to the millions of living humans walking around. He is just some old weirdo who should never have had access to a donated body. He likely just didn’t want to pay the cost or do the paperwork of treating them appropriately.

His sentence is a joke!! He desecrated all those donated bodies and left them lying around like garbage, and he only gets a 6 year sentence? @@Slyfoxx The best I can figure, what probably happened is this: He ran a company that handled donated bodies. This industry can be kind of shady. He goes out of business, and has a bunch of dead bodies and doesn't know what to do with them. So, he just chucks them out in the wild and hopes nature will take care of them. There's no defense for that, so the best thing he's come up with is, "I did it on purpose as a stunt to get attention for my cause. The cadaver industry won't listen to my concerns about properly testing cadavers for diseases, so I had to take drastic action (leaving dead bodies all over the county). Now that I have everybody's attention, people will listen to me." It's nonsense, obviously. It's like a 10 year old latching onto the very first lie they can think of and hanging on for dear life.

He didn’t say “yeah, I was expecting you, but I need to tell you why I did it…”. He just reacted with irritation and “no questions, want lawyer.” I took human anatomy classes with cadaver dissection (pre-med and med school) and in both places the donor bodies were treated with huge respect and gratitude. There was a long list of rules, such as only dissecting a couple areas in depth per body, and never fully detaching any part/ leave a bit of tissue so that the person could be cremated or buried whole after, with no risk of an arm being switched, or keeping the body covered decently where not dissected. The med students even thanked the donors out loud at the last lab, and there was a mass for the donors if they wanted. That is the norm….and this guy should just have never been allowed access to donated bodies.

I think his point was that the cadaver program was shipping bodies all over the world without checking the cadavers for any blood born pathogens. But the way he went about calling attention to what he thought was a problem was not the way to do it. Of course if it were really a problem, I pretty sure we would have heard about people getting diseases from exposure to the cadavers. And what about morticians? Has anyone seen any evidence that they are more prone to catch diseases? He said that he wrote a paper exposing the dangers, but nothing was done. Maybe he was butt hurt because the people in his "industry" wouldn't take his warnings seriously. And the pipe bomb suggests that if scattering the body parts around and getting arrested for it didn't give him the platform he wanted, he would use the b to blow something up in order to get the attention that he craved.

Unfortunately the cadaver system in this country is pretty sketchy all around. If you or a family member want to donate remains for medical/scientific research, pick a specific institution you want it sent to. Research the place thoroughly to see if they have had scandals or issues. Pick one you can trust and make sure it is specified clearly in your will. Otherwise the remains could end up just about anywhere from weird roadside "museums" to ebay, or I guess thrown into the desert by a bankrupt company president. There have also been cases of cadavers being publicly autopsied by unscrupulous people for entertainment purposes. So do your research and pick a reputable medical school or research institute. I don't buy Walter Mitchell's story for one second. I also don't know why he would have cut the bodies up and left them with his company's name on them, or why he had a pipe bomb. I wonder if we will ever get all the details.

I've used cadavers and parts like these in the medical industry and I agree with you. There's too much room for abuse. I worry about the colleges where they have new students using cadavers. I removed myself from the donate list due to my knowledge of the uses. If it's not used, the tissue(skin) will be used as that's a big industry for them cadavers.

3 minutes in and this is how you handle a crime scene. Do not touch or move anything as to not mess with possible evidence. I recently watched another EWU video about a family that called the cops because their cousin or family member was missing. The first cops that checked the house because the owner (another guy, not the missing cousin) was on parole or something. They missed a bottle of blood that was on the counter!! And then they allowed the family to stay in the house and the sister and aunt were looking around and found more stuff than the first cops did. And this stuff was in plain sight.

@@AK47BLACKice what’s crazy is my grandpa who I never met died that same way. Out hunting on a mountain and went missing. A few days later his 2 hunting dogs returned home. Those hunting dogs ended up leading a family member to the body miles away up on a mountain where my mom’s father was sitting under a tree deceased. Natural causes.

You still should, otherwise it's just going to be filled with chemicals that are toxic to the environment and you won't decompose properly because of it.

I feel like that female officer did a really good job maintaining the scene and keeping control. A lot of times we see police miss things or fail to get good statements but she seemed on top of it and even stopped the other officer from getting to close at one point. Interesting case

Imagine all of the people and families out there that thought they were benefiting science only to have their body parts and those of their loved ones tossed like trash… the guy was so cavalier about it too
