Hunter Pence is the hyped version of what a lot of fans think. We love OUR GUYS. We don't mind close games or losing sometimes. We want to win & lose with OUR GUYS. Don't bring people just to get rid of them a month later. Invest & grow & bond. Folks forget when the Dodgers spent all that money but the Giants still were in the World Series or in the playoffs.

Bingo. Championship teams always need a mercenary or two. Guys like Cody Ross, Pat the Bat, Aubrey Huff, Freddy Sanchez. But at the end of the day, the dynasty was built around Buster, Bumgarner, Cain, Lincecum, Pablo, and Romo. We had those guys first and then built around them. Hopefully they can build around guys like Webb and Ramos now.

The hire of Buster just makes total sense. The day he announced he was moving back to the Bay area the writing was on the Wall. The Giants had this in motion all along. Am i crazy?

I started following him on Instagram a year ago and dude looks like he loves life as much as baseball. I think a lot of athletes struggle with purpose and identify after retiring, but he seems to just be really happy.

I do appreciate what he's saying about giving guys some time to play. Also there are so many times I can't believe they left someone in way, way too long. Casilla comes to mind, did they really need to keep him losing it over and over?

it didn't click: Soler did not hit for months, Estrada never showed up, Flores tanked, Doval imploded, Snell came out-of-shape.

To your point, look at these guys.....B level players at best (not Snell when he's good). These guys are great if you want complimentary players, but if they are taking on front line roles, you are lucky to be .500. You need another masher to compliment Ramos. Pitching and defense is not the problem, they are on par with the Dodgers and Padres. It's the hitting that's the issue.

I love Pence's positivity but realistically, I don't see how this CAN be ok. Posey for how committed he is to winning has zero experience in a job that has an entirely different set of needs from being a HOF player. We also still have Greg Johnson who is a loser in charge. We have been named as having the WORST farm in baseball (though it is only one source), Ramos and Fitzgearld are very likely to have sophomore slumps, our position player group is mostly replacement level guys that have to be min-maxed to be useful and our rotation is far from elite (though not bad by any means). Zaidi is gone but now what??? Posey can't just give the Giants an extra 10 wins a season which is what we need to even start being relevant.
