Here's a hunting gear checklist & pack dump of what I'll be taking to the Australian Alps for the first week in May 2019. Links to my Google sheets lists below. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/... docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

I'm literally in the process of getting all these things organized for a backpack hunt this year, I've had both knees fixed now and I'm slowly working on my fitness in preparation for the hunt🦌💥

You'll be right mate. Slowly and surely. It's a great adventure for sure.

Great video thank you. What scope do you run on the tikka?
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK5 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. I run a Kahles 3-9x42mm with a TDS reticle. Great combo, has never let me down and it punches out accurately to further than I like to shoot hunting.

@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK thank you so much for your reply. Keep up the great work on your videos.

A really great compilation and spreadsheets, but I do honestly question your food list. 7704kj per day is not enough for a small person who is sedentary, let alone trekking, stalking, hunting, etc. I'd suggest for most average-sized people, that 9000-10000kj per day is more like the number you should be aiming for. Just to ensure you aren't completely exhausting yourself or underperforming. I'm a rake at 170cm and 59kg, have just come back from a full weekend of stalking, where we covered 35kms walking in, out and around over four days and I was at 9200kj per day just to keep up. Other than that, some great content :)

Hope you had a great trip. Each to their own mate for food. Like I said I'm an endurance runner who does 100km races. My food intake is what I'm comfortable with. Everyone is different.

@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK very true. I run as well but I can't seem to get below that 9000kj mark when doing heavy work like that 😉 Just out of interest do you walk your way in to your hunts? We don't have a 4wd so we're on foot the whole way.
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK3 жыл бұрын
Same mate, no 4wd either. All my high country backpack hunts are foot it all the way in. Half the challenge

@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK oh yeah. And half the fun 😂 I always find caloric intake fascinating. I used to be a high performance coach and know it varies so much from person to person. Anyway, great content (and commitment) keep up the great work 👍

Thanks mate, it's all good fun 👌

How do you rate the kuiu ultra 4000
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK5 жыл бұрын
Was really happy with it. Compressed well for day hunts. Not a huge pack, carried the load very comfortably. My gear is all pretty light and compact. I had it jammed full with gear and the 6 days food. I've already skimmed down the gear list for the next trip.

NJMS EDC sounds like the 5500 might be the go for me. Cheers
