Hunting Red Deer. Two Big Stags Walk Into 12m! BOWHUNTING the Best Property I Found In NSW!

When your a hunter you often cross paths with people who mention their aunty or uncle, or brother in law have a farm or property. They always seem to be about 6-10 hrs away just far enough your not sure if its worth the drive to check out with your limited weekends and the person who told you is always a non hunter. While parked in Sydney after two weeks at work and all my gear stilla t my sisters house after my time in NZ. I decided to follow up one of these leads, mainly due to there being an abandoned gold lease on the property and wanting to go for a snipe (snorkelling for gold). On my first walk to checking out the property in a torrential rain storm I saw multiple red deer. The next day lead into one of the best days hunting of my life, i saw over 40 deer, had stags calling out to me across the valley and got in a position with two stags within 12m! I think every bow Hunter will once take a random shot, have it go bad or even have a great shot occasionally go bad. It was very hard, but after nz my confidence was low, also had never been so close to two live deer like that before. Just reading where they would be and having that time in such close proximity was a win for me! Taken allot of solo learning over the past 4 years to start even getting these chances! The next one I make up for it and am rewarded! Ran out of arrows…..was a bad day to be an introduced species!

I never had even heard of there being deer in the wild a few years back, still to this day it spins me out how majestic they are. I have sleepless nights before and after hunting trips replaying scenes in my head! I hope to be able to go back to this place as it was insane. I only really have one property near me I have access to and it’s very small now after a sell off. Hopefully I will get some leads to a new one soon and continue to be able to have fun like this and score meat at the same time! Appreciate the message

Now I definatly would have, probably should have drawn as soon as he turned! After losing that deer in NZ I just didn’t want any chances! So mental they both came in so close! That's awesome mate. I'm currently pack training in the wet, the vis for diving at the moment is horrible up and down the coast so working on the cardiovascular and general fitness is the go too. Good luck, i hope you get a good stag soon, can't edit to see it!
