Hi! Massive paleontology nerd here! Can confirm, Helicoprion is very very real, or at least was. However the interpretation they used is a rather old and outdated one, but it does indeed have that titular tooth whirl from where it gets it’s name. Also, the big brown fish you saw at the bottom in the extinct fish area was Dunkleosteus, a placoderm fish known for having one of the most crushing bite forces of its time, and one of the most impressive bite forces out there. It also had an outdated design, but seeing as the animal itself only just recently got redescribed with a smaller, more squat body, it just seems like a nice retro design.

1:38:36 The stinger detaching actually serves a couple purposes. It comes out with the venom sac attached, and will both dig itself in further and keep pumping venom for a while. It also releases a targeting pheromone to guide other bees, which can be important against furry animals that are hard to land a sting on. Both of those reasons are why, if you're stung, it's imperative that you remove the stinger ASAP, by whatever means necessary, (e.g. scrape with fingernail or even just pinch it out,) and leave until you get a chance to wash everything that touched the stinger apparatus.

i highly recommend enhancing a damage type gun with a tranquilizer enhancement. it will allow you to put even the largest sharks to sleep so you can retrieve them alive with the drone. i used the tranquilizer rifle, you are just missing a couple of an item that drops from the squids that ink you in the shallows to enhance

You can actually upgrade the hush gun to where it can put large fish to sleep with two shots! I had my sniper rifle upgraded to tranquilise but once I fully upgraded the hush gun I swapped back and then created another sniper rifle to fully upgrade the damage for bosses. The item to tranq your rifle is cuttlefish skin.

Insym you should check your items because one of the items (octopus bracelet) you get from the dolphins or from that nature app (I can't remember which) gives you a free DASH. It's super useful for dodging and kiting sharks.

The thing I like about Dave the Diver is that they're listening to the fans of the game and trying to make it universally enjoyable for everyone. In due time, you won't have to button mash and all menus will be able to be organized. No more searching for the heaviest thing to disperse of when you're carrying too much weight!

One big tip at restaurant time. When you run out of a dish on the menu, remove it. People come in and ask for it and you tell them it's done and they get pissed and leave

There was a period of time where seals were being washed up dead but shredded to pieces and the only know thing in the water was the Greenland sharks, but they don't eat seals (they can't). So the marine peeps dived down to see what was going on only to find out that whilst the Greenland shark couldn't actually eat large mammals, if you went in the water near them they would bloody well give it a good go. So... eh... yeah. Yeah they're actually pretty hostile. Much more so than other shark species.

I believe if one would find a lake in a cave below the ground, the water pressure in that underground lake wouldn't be the same as the water pressure in the ocean at the same exact depth, since that type of pressure is being build by the more mass of water it is being layered on top of the object and not by the fact how deep it is. Can't wait for the finale, been enjoying this playthrough immensely! ✨

Giant trevally are a gray fish that is non hostile and shows up about 50 meters down. When they die you have to cut them up or drone them.

17:50 you can remove any picked up knife or upgraded harpoon spear in the esc menu, just choose which one that you want to remove 38:01 Masayoshi have dispatch master as 2nd skill, but his stats is focused on serving if i remember it correctly 41:10 if you want a 250 happiness menu it best to upgrade a fish with high rank like 8 or 9 to max level or maybe around level 7 or 8 it should have around 250 happiness or maybe more, because i have a maxed out rank 9 ingredients and clear the condition by itself i also didn't remember when xD 1:44:53 you can hit it from the back, the skin on its head is like a rock hard stone skin, but the skin on its body and tails is not hard so you need to hit it from the back i love how inysm screaming "suwam where did you go" while he's controlling it himself XD

So the helicoprion that you fought, it is a combination of the work helicopter and scorpion. Helicop from helicoptor and rpion from scorpion. I am absolutely loving your videos on this! I plan on buying this game once im able to and im so excited even after seeing what the story is, each playthrough is what you make it!

FYI you can navigate menus like the inventory as if they are touchscreen - i.e. click and drag. Way faster then using WASD.

For the shark party. Mako - daylight close to surface center or right hand area. Very fast use a scooter. Mako is the world fastest shark. Thresher - daylight close to surface, left hand area. Tiger shark (you still call it megalodon) deep but not the actual depths Hammerhead - daylighy sunken ship and deep center. Whitetip- day/night 25 or so meters seem to spawn center most often Blacktip - night think near the surface Zebra - night mid depths Copper - night mid depths Megamouth - depths slow. Good recipe. Frilled shark - depths, good recipe. Cookiecutter - depths, often hard to find, smaller than barracuda Porbeagle - near top of the glacial area. Greenland - near the too-hot area slow, good recipe. Bosses Goblin shark and great white. There may be a couple others

If you haven't beaten the game yet, I'd recommend checking out the tranquilizer rifle! Also, upgrading the drone is well worth it!

The Helicoprion, or Buzzsaw Jaw Fish did exist but it didn't have a spinning blade. Just a weird twisty bottom jaw with rows of teeth. It is, in fact, extinct and was a weird ratfish, not a shark. I don't recognise all of the critters in this game, but a lot, if not all of them, existed. (As far as the fish are concerned.) The ocean is weird.

Funny story I've heard is that greenland shark is the longest living vertebrate achievieng lifespan of even 500 years, so there is a big chance that Dave catches fish older than USA

If you go to your inventory like when you want to discard extra fish for weight, then you can discard a melee weapon and go back to the knife.

helicoprion did in fact exists, fossils have been found of it. but I don't think that their mout could turn like a sawblade though it was rather a whorl like a snail's shell (the spiral shape you see where it goes from big to small towards the center).

Tubeworm hint: if you dont have the light or your battery is drained..........hit the TubeWorm a couple times with your melee weapon. it will cause the TubeWorm to open up just like the light does.....

I’ve been watching a bunch of stark week documentaries and there’s actually a bunch of sharks that can be bigger than great whites 😳 like the Great Hammerhead and the Thrasher shark. I think the Great White is just wider than many (so it’s technically bigger). Finding out that they sometimes have a buddy they hunt with is crazy.
