I have watched many videos of wild hog harvesting, and or eliminations, and I totally agree with the concept of war against these destructive species. pig out, and eat hearty, but I don't understand why of all the you tube videos that I have watched, I have not ever seen one time when the freshly killed hog had its throat cut to bleed out.

Stumbled onto this video, just by happenstance. When this brother said he was hog-hunting with a lever-action .22 Mag., I kept watching. When he went barefoot into the swamp, and even tracked a wounded hog into the brush in the same manner (.22 rifle and barefoot), I couldn't stop watching at that point! This man is the real deal! And, feeding folks he loves; kindness and blessings. It's gets no better than that. " 'Merica"! God bless you and yours!

"Whatever you're accurate with" - 100%. Inspired by Robert I recently took my father on a hog hunt w/2 other people. They were using 44mag and 308 but everyone was concerned about my "little .223" being too weak however I was shooting Barnes 70 grain vor-tx solid copper BTHP's... Long story short, they spent about an hour tracking their hogs and shot over a dozen times (2 people, 2 hogs, 12 shots. They were New York cops, so I forgive their poor accuracy) but mine dropped where it stood. I put one round into the left ear of a 125lb boar at 65 yards & he died THEN fell over - one of the most ethical harvests I've ever seen. Even the ranch hand was impressed, he said he only uses 308 because he hates to track or even lose an animal. I did a ham roast with Everglades seasoning, garlic, onions, potatoes, and chardonnay/water mix for moisture. 3 hours at 300 degrees - Came out amazing. I'm making chili out of leftovers. Thanks Robert, my freezer is now full in part thanks to you! 🙏

Shot placement and bullet construction are most important by a mile. A .223/5.56 with a proper bullet works just fine for deer. Nail them in the neck or spine and they drop where they stand

@@deermeatfordinner you (and your brother Gabe) inspired me to get back to my FloridaMan roots, and I couldn't be more thankful to you both. 🙏 P.S.: you're right about everglades original seasoning, for an all in one seasoning it's about as good as it gets. Reminds me of Mrs. Dash, but with a tiny bit more saltyness. If you get a chance, you've gotta try Aldi's generic "Steak" seasoning. It's a blend of paprika, garlic, onion, peppercorns, and other spices but I find it's the best generic seasoning. It goes best on chicken or scrambled eggs, surprisingly I've yet to try it on beef steaks but I have on burgers & they're amazing!!

I have friend who was a ex-Miami Dolphin player. He had a small ranch in Texas and he would allow me to hunt hogs on his place. His only rule was I could not use a centerfire rifle due it was working cattle ranch. I had blind setup over the cattle feeder. I used a 22 mag and a 17 wsm to head shot them. I keep the freezer full with those two guns. He sold the place and I have not been able to hunt them since then. Man I really do miss those times. I learned that shot placement was everything with those guns and I had to pass up alot shots with those guns because I could not put the bullet were it needed to be. I still made great memories.

British lad here. I hunt wild boar in the Forest of Dean and occasionally in Wales. Hunt, clean, prep, cook. Sick to the arse of supermarket meat. I stopped eating that crap years ago. Mostly tough, and I always felt so tired after eating chicken. Turns out its a stress hormone animals emit when they're slaughtered which floods the meat, makes it tough and smelly and it can lead to drowsiness in humans. Look it up. To think that's what I was eating, animals that had been shit scared during slaughter. Been hunting 20 years now, never go back. And it will always be part of my life. Clean, ethical and the way it should be. :O)

I rarely see a video of this caliber (no pun intended)! AWESOME video Sir! I can see by the way you move through cover and the intuitive feel you have for hunting that environ, that you know your stuff. I have the utmost respect! I also appreciate the KEY points you made, "Be ethical, be moral, be humane..." This is too rare today. I bird hunt more than anything now with my dogs. I see guys with 12 gauge semis just BLASTING away. What they don't show are the cripples they leave behind or the birds that fly off to die somewhere else! I use a 20 or 28 gauge SxS - not because of budget but because of sport. I pride myself in taking ethical shots, taking ONE bird out of a covey and marking it so that my dog and I can recover it for the table. Memorable hunts are not determined by how many birds I take but the quality of my dog's performance and a well-made shot(s) best shared with like-minded hunters. Thank you for a super video!

Hey Rob, greetings from Germany. I love your videos and the message you give. Hunting here in Germany is something completely different, which is why I think your video is so great. Hopefully I have sometime the opportunity to go hunting in the US. Greetings Mike

Absolutely love this channel. Have for years. Really has gotten me through a lot of tough city times watching these. Absolutely addicted to the outdoorsman tips and tricks like the mud tracks and berry diet. Your brother Blue Gabe does a great job too! Truely and incredible family, one I’ll definitely be referencing as I teach my kids

Thank you for sharing! I guess you guys must have a really good audio pickup for your videos... all of the noises being made going through the brush were a focus for me. Every little brush of the fabric or snap of a twig had me going ohhh man! We don't have wild hogs where I live, they don't have good hearing I'm guessing? Thanks again, coffee break well spent. We have no hogs where I live, so I can at least watch you! Fantastic cooking rig! A++

my exp is they make enough noise themselves, that anything thats not 'out of place' is often not noticed, hogs/bore/wild pigs are not all that quiet when foraging in groups...not super loud all the time but... we knew they got into my friends grandads garden from the noise they made... and yes a .22lr will do the job quite well.. so will a crossbow...

Rob, great video. It makes me feel like I'm back in FL. Very educational on the skinning process, but I think those of us that are trying to learn would ask that you still demonstrate the gutting process. As you say, we just want to do it with utmost efficiency to maximize meat yield per animal harvested. Thanks, and keep doing what you're doing. All the best to you and your family.

I want to thank you for emphasising that hunters need to be ethical and proficient with their weapon and take only good shots. That's what my uncle taught me in the 70's when I was little and he hated people who took bad shots making the animal suffer unnecessarily.

My friend took me out hunting for the first time in December and I got my first deer. I now understand how much work goes into cleaning and processing a deer. He made me clean the deer for my first time and I now know what all goes into it. I'm going to get another next year.

@@murphywhite1020 deer in general are smaller creatures but it depends on what kind. The white tail i killed here in south texas was maybe 90lb. They can be really fast which is why you don't really chase them down.
