Nicko's leg must have been on fire after this one. All that bass drumming with just a single pedal? A masterfully done performance by everyone. Bruce's voice is fantastic as well! 10/10

Janick has contributed so much to many epic songs. He is just one amazing epic on each of post reunion albums. You can look forward to Dance of Death, Talisman, The Legacy, Book of Souls, Time Machine and a few more. 🤘

Yeah Janick is my favourite I think. Dave is the essence of Maiden, Adrian is the unequal beat and cleanliness and Janick is the unparallelled showman.

I think most of us maiden fans from the earlier years took a disliking to janick simply because he wasn't smithy, but he certainly belongs in maiden and he's great on stage where as smithy and dace are far more reserved.

I am glad you are finally more appreciative of Janick. You will learn to appreciate him more once you get hardcore about the band and start learning who wrote which songs.

Probably my favorite song off of Brave New World. Live is grittier than studio version. Bruce handled the speed lyrics very well and was impressed by Janick. Of course it's a given that the rest of the band performed great. Another great live performance.

A lot maiden fans were up set because janiks play style was a completely different style than Adrian and maiden big thing was Adrian and Dave’s solos back to back and how well they worked and complimented each other. Janiks solo style is very different more chaotic and weird but it doesn’t make it any less cool. It just was a shell shock for a lot of fans because Adrian was so melodic

this video, Dream of Mirrors from Rock in Rio, was what got me into playing the guitar and it's now my 10th year playing and i just started my first Maiden song. i am going to lessons every other week and because i am in an intense apprenticeship (look up the swiss education system in case you're interested, i'm doing IT) my progress is not the fastest, but it's always been my goal to be able to play a Maiden song. the song my teacher and i started is Children of the Damned, one of my top 3 songs, not this one (my all-time favorite), but i am still super happy and proud of myself for coming this far. i also struggle with some skills like using both hands to do different things in a steady rhythm because of my autism, which makes me even prouder

Yes A’rry is brill I had his head on my right shoulder in 98 in Sheffield City Hall and at the end of the gig he personally handed me his sweat arm band and he rise my arm a loft and I got Jan’s sweat arm band and Nick’o run straight towards me and handed me a drum stick a great gig

It’s the greatest compliment to a band when a crowd gets right into their new songs, as you can see at this concert. I hear there’s been a similar response during their current tour for the Senjutsu release, and the crowd is singing along to them all. Can anyone comment who’s been recently?

I never liked that song too much but this version is something else. It's softer when it comes to Irons, that's why I didn't like it for many years (but there are worse). But I gotta say the melodic guitar harmonies are beautiful and it's a great chanting song for the stadiums etc.

Apparently Blaze helped write this track along with a few others from Brave new world and he didn't get any writing credits, they worked on blood brothers during the recording of virtual Xi, I would definitely suggest listening to Blaze's acoustic version of Blood brothers, it's really good.

So good witnessing this Maiden Journey of yours. Brings memories of my own back in the early nineties. I was pulled in by "Fear of the Dark" which was a real bomber then (played in radios, even), although I already new some of their stuff, as it was imposible not to have heard any Maiden as an 80's child; even if it were a kind of "background soundtrack" from older kids from my neighbourhood. Anyway, that lead me into buying "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son", and from that very moment I knew I was in for good. Your dislike/like/love towards Janick Gers is a perfect example of the many resemblances your trip has with my own back in the day (actually, it's still on) and what finally led me into writing these lines, which I've never done before on any other channel. It is very enjoyable watching you react with such enthusiasm to a band that pushes my buttons in so many ways. Truly, thank you. Up the Irons!

My Maiden journey is along a very similar timeline as yours. I started one album earlier. I had heard Maiden from my older cousin growing up, but it wasn't until I heard The Assassin on a long gone AM radio station, that I was hooked. I remember blasting that song through my Dad's Hi-fi system and singing along for hours. Hurm's reactions have made my cry happy tears on several occasions. Maiden is the only thing that has been a constant in my life for the last 30+ years.

Why have you ever doubted Janick Gers ??? Janick has improved our band because now we have 3 GUITARS. More sound than only 2 guitars. Bruce is exactly the reason this band has continued on. There will never be another IRON MAIDEN without a singer capable of voice characteristics like Brucey. BRUCE is what makes this band Iron Maiden. Choose another voice to take his place, go ahead try it!!! It can't be done. you can't fight the devil with only water balloons.

Also, When you watch maiden live in songs like this you realize how it can be ok with some repetative parts of their songs, and to have the whole songs a bit longer than "needed". The atmosphere it creates live is just magic sometimes, especially with the audience participation. BTW, sick Avatar shirt Hurm!

U r right... sometimes, Iron Maiden has a tendency to speed up their tempos in their live concerts (less now than before) - 'Hallowed be thy name' (live) is much faster than the studio version... 'Rime of the Ancient Mariner' is another example where the tempos got faster and the live version was better. There are 2 live concert videos that deserve attention in Maiden's catalog - 'Maiden England' (filmed in 1988 on the 'Seventh Son of Seventh Son' tour) and 'Raising Hell' (filmed in 1993 as a Pay-per-view even of Dickinson's final show w/ Maiden... Horror illusionist Simon Drake would do his stage act between their songs) or Iron Maiden's "Live at Donnington 1992" set. The '88 concert had a great version of Bruce Dickinson singing 'Killers'... and the '93 show had the band performing 'Transylvania' (the instrumental from the 1st record) and a great version of 'Afraid to shoot strangers'... 🤘🤘🔥🔥

Any other band and Janick would probably be stealing the show. But it's hard to shine when you're on stage with two players like Adrian and Dave. I think he's great. And I like that any time there's an acoustic part, he seems to be the one doing it. Big credit if he's the one pulling the band in that direction because the acoustic bits really add to the depth of these compositions.

I’ll be honest, this one isn’t one of my favorites. The only reason, for me, is the repetitiveness of hearing, “I only dream in black and white”. But I’m like that with ANY song. One of my all time favorite performances is “The Clansman”. That’s the one I ❤️

Was one of my 3 favorites from the album at first, far from it nowdays. Bit too slow at the start, no good solo on it imo. I like the heaviness and the fast part tho.
@troywilkinson1602 жыл бұрын
Janick is a Good song writer. He is a good guitarist but his solos are hit and miss for me. He is not a shredder but tries to be. When he sticks with his quick runs into some harmonics or into the tremolo I enjoy much more than when he tries to run scales fast with his muted hand and sloppiness. Regardless, he is a good player, although unnecessary to Maiden. Adrian keeps improving in his playing. He’s always trying new techniques, retuning, more waw! He is a great musician and writer. Dave’s contributions are legendary, however his legato solos are predicative and I think he is a bit lazy these days. This is the last of Bruce’s best singing years. He is definitely in a major decline these last months. Steve? The best ever still despite his love affair with repetition and progressive songs. Nicky still is so good. Groovy and fun.
