My son came from GA to black mountain he came Monday with 60 gallons of gas and a 39 cases of water. I was able to get $700 donated to him for 120 more gallons of gas and 2 more trailer of water. He is still there delivering gas and water. Just got his first hot shower. He’s eating perishable foods I sent him and fixing to head to a different location to help out and deliver more gas and items. He’s a full time reseller so he put his store on vacation and headed out Monday. Praying for your community

Our thoughts, hearts, and prayers go out to everyone affected by this disastrous storm. I live in Vermont, another "safe" zone that was devastated by Irene. We lost power for weeks, were essentially an island with no ingress or egress for over a week due to impassable roads, to the point that helicopters were dropping food and water, so I can relate to the shock and impact of your surreal situation. Keep focused daily on the present, your family, and helping those you can, as you're doing, and dont worry about the future right now. Try to stay positive. Hugs from the north country....

Rusty, first I thank God you, your family and Peaches are OK. My heart just cries for everyone. For 26 years I lived in Greenville, Charlotte and Lexington. I spent so much time in the mountains. that area has always had a very special place in my heart. I can not imagine how bad it is. All the suffering and loss. who would have flood insurance in the mountains? I was in Charlotte when Hugo hit. That was like a spring shower compared to what you are going thru. Many prayers for everyone. Even the animals are suffering. I hate not having money to help, but I can ask God to do so, and the entire earth is His. Praying you can keep your store going in spite of all the challenges. I am embarrassed by our current government. EVERY unaffected National Guardsman needs to be deployed. Just cutting all the fallen trees would keep them very busy and make it easier for the movement of help. Just do a massive deployment and get it done in a couple weeks. I still have not heard from a friend in Hendersonville. I am so worried about her and her ill husband. My beautiful Blue Ridge, I cry for you.

I’ve lived in the area since 2001 and saw Ivan come through in 2004 that was nothing compared. 1916 records were shattered. So much devastation. Social media and the internet is weird because it takes soo much more effort to locate who what where as an outsider. Insiders to your states your comms your networks to reach the outside world. Chaos breeds chaos from social media clicks to charities no one has ever heard of to etc. When people are inundated with bs vs community leaders from areas on the map that hardly anyone outside of the absolute local area knows of? The aerial views don't even necessarily show towns anymore or roads or bridges or where bridges towns or roads were? I don't know about evac or longterm but man I really hope as the cold sets in that people really make tough choices between staying warm alive vs trying to hope the ice on top of this won't cause even more chaos as the months unfold. My guess is sir that aerial drops are likely to be most of the aid as well as some mules if they can navigate but mules don't necessarily navigate extremely fast. Talk to locals leave notes if you can of who needs what where it is needed when you go to town and how much because the towns with power will be your source to outside aid probably for the longer than shorter range especially the desired. I hate terrible news being made a little worse but keep your head up. Help may be a little longer due to the issues but its coming and to help make sure it keeps coming make sure you have a way to stay in touch with that power source. If you can try to gather some water or soil samples for future testing overtime just to make sure soil and or water wasn't contaminated seeping into wells. You might not be able to test such stuff anytime soon but its good to know? Date it in a little container if possible. Passing that info on can help save lives or exposures to issues much further down the line? You have 2.5k views as of this message whereas some douche hockin bs probably has a million tryin to make money off of your community. My honest advice drink slow eat slow it looks way worse than I want to even think about longterm. I know some roads not all roads and the roads I know are gone. I heard starlink expires in 30 days. Your situation as a whole in the area won't be. I don't know if you know that so I figured I'd pass along what i consider verifiable information from a legit source.
