I lived thought hurricane Andrew, it’s not the hurricane that’s devastating, it’s the aftermath. It’s august in Miami, no electricity, no food , no traffic lights, no sense and we only had wind damage. These poor people are going to get flooded up the kazoo and their lives wrecked..I think we in s fl get the best of the deal because Andrew’s a once in a lifetime deal. Those poor people on west coast of Fla are going to sushi’s interminably because of temps in Caribbean and gulf. I came to Miami shortly after “paradise found” Nixon era and now it isn’t. I left uk in 1978, the weather was so dull and Miami was so gorgeous neither are true anymore. The climate has changed in last 50 years at an extreme rate. I’m not saying it’s nature or our impact but ITS HAPPENING.

By now folks should not be there at all along the west FL coast both north and south or anywhere near the Tampa Bay Sarasota areas. They need to EVACUATE to higher ground. Storm surge 10, 12,-20' is a killer surge and 100 plus winds. Don't be fools...Get Out, get gone to safety. Massive destruction is coming. Don't stick around to whine and cry because there will be no services left if you fail to exit the area. Find safety of higher ground and you will survive to rebuild later. Stuff is less important than lives.

This is how weather reporting should be. He was super transparent about his confidence in the models and the potential limitations, as well as being calm yet informative. I didn't feel like I was being talked down to like a child. I like that.

@@montvilleo The evacuation map I just looked at shows Broward and Monree counties with no evacuation and Miami Dade with voluntary evacuation advisory. Of course if Milton turns south that's a different story. Getting to high ground is essential. The Everglades is on the southern most area of Florida.

Central St. Pete here. Non flood zone and non evac, CBS construction with reinforced rebar. Can’t wait to face this thing down. Windows are boarded up, full generator and iced down yeti, enough propane to cook outside for months, and firearms…it’s Florida after all!
