Hurricane Milton forecast, 2 a.m. on Oct. 9, 2024

St. Lucie, Indian River, and Okeechobee counties are under a hurricane warning Wednesday as a major Category 5 Hurricane Milton churns toward Florida, where it's expected to make landfall along the west coast late Wednesday evening into early Thursday morning. Martin County is under a hurricane watch, while Palm Beach County remains under a tropical storm warning. According to the 2 a.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center, an "extremely powerful" Milton has maximum sustained winds of 160 mph and is moving east-northeast at 12 mph. It's forecast to make landfall on the Gulf coast of Florida late Wednesday night as a "dangerous major hurricane," the NHC said.

I just hope that you might have a brief say, five minutes to cover this, especially for those watching all across the nation who've never before been thru a hurricane and know absolutely nothing on the subject. I'm pretty sure everyone else would be curious to know as well. I see that no one has pointed it out or even made mention of it, so I guess I'm going to have to be that one kid in class. I do believe I already know the answer, and perhaps so do others, but I don't want to say what I think, without having all the facts before me first and later be sued for spreading disinformation. Plus, I'm not a metrologist.....so the question is this, and no, now it's not as defined as it was earlier, but at one point, it looked as though there were two hurricanes. So, I, along with so many others, would love to hear this explanation. Please and thank you... also, i dont know if this would be a first and worthy of the history books, but what I can tell you is that in all of my years on this planet. I've never seen anything like ever before...well, I never intended to write a novel about it, but there you have it.

Yes , it's called a house. We build most Florida homes out of concrete and steel , the trusses are designed to collapse over the walls in a worst case scenario. There are no basements in most of Florida, and I can show you thousands of structures that have lasted decades , storm after storm without fail. Properly prepared , we can outlast it and be ready to recover and help each other right after the storm, I had the option to get out , but I prefer to stay and join my friends and neighbors in the recovery. I know that I will always be there to fix things as long as I have life and strength, and it's good to live where others feel the same way
