What to do when your husband acts like he did nothing wrong.
There are different phases of reconciliation. When your spouse first returns, it's almost like the two of you are dating again. Deep and meaningful conversation at that stage is not typical. The couple must see if their relationship can evolve again and develop safety and trust before those heart-to-hearts can happen. Down the line, reconciliation and talk about what went wrong previously must happen before the relationship can fully move forward. However, everything is about timing; if you push too hard too fast, there may not be reconciliation at all. Don't push things if it feels like they're not going in the right direction; and that advice applies to numerous marital situations.

My mother was on the antidepressant, Zoloft, mentioned in this video. When a greatly loved aunt died mother said she was so sad and wanted to cry, BUT WAS UNABLE TO. She said she NEEDED to cry. She couldn't get any relief that tears offer a person during grief. You said antidepressants can make one "numb" and they sure did that to her. She had grief but couldn't get any relief from it so I think the medication did more harm than good. I can speak firsthand because I gave Multiple Sclerosis and was prescribed an antidepressant because my disease modifier also caused depression, let alone the fact one may become depressed just because one HAS Multiple Sclerosis. I asked my doctor to help me taper off of it completely because it made me feel terrible in other ways. I empathize with my mother! People use the word empathize all the time not realizing they would need to experience the EXACT situation and/or symptoms the other person is experiencing in order to claim "empathy" for them. As an RN I came to understand this fact.

I understand completely but he crushed trust and my heart. I’m broken, depressed, and devastated as well. But I have to be compassionate towards him because he’s depressed. How am I supposed to handle my own mental issue...

Reconciliation is possible solely on the grace of the betrayed. If you can’t “EAT IT” (IT being your utter devastation, his annoyance with your PTSD, his missing his AP and mourning her loss, your need to hit him over head with a hammer til his skull cracks open and his brains spill out, etc.) then Reconciliation is impossible. Personally, I had to leave.

If I don’t talk about it right aways we will never talk about it again because he doesn’t want to. He lies so much to me and makes me feel like I should be in a straight jacket and be put in a crazy home because “im just seeing things, hearing things, and feeling things”… but I KNOW the truth. I’m not crazy! But he’s playing so many kind games with me yet he can make everyone believe he’s such an innocent perfect man

If I wait for a few weeks to talk about what he did and he’s not admitting to his faults and acts like he did nothing wrong..he just says “we shouldn’t talk about the past” … that’s how he gets away with everything and makes people believe he is “perfect”

First, go to an attorney and freeze any bank accounts. Empty them into a private account to make suet he doesn’t spend money on her. Listen to Lauren!

@MarriageHelper My husband had an affair and ultimately moved out over a year ago. He still hasn't told me where he lives. However, he does come over (unprompted) to spend time with me; he does repairs or projects around the house that I want done; and we still make love, but only when wants. On the flip side, he doesn't take me out anywhere. I'm hurting and I don't know what to do ... UPDATE: I filed for divorce, which was granted in March of 2022. I'm happy, healthy and stress free!

You need to do what makes you SAFE. Successful. HAPPY. Do not let him come in without being respected. IE where he lives what the heck is going on. Do NOT let him in. Don’t let him have keys.

Sounds like you have a narcissist. He's coming around because you're his back up supply. Look up Dr. Ramani - she's a PhD expert on narcissists.

I stopped allowing him to treat me like crap. I set boundaries and stopped having sex with him. Honestly, because I didn't do those things, he felt it was OK to disrespect me. I still don't know where he lives, but that's fine because I removed myself from his sick and twisted equation.

He’s making sure you don’t sue for divorce and take his money. You know what to do. You just don’t want to do it.
