For the little story, the supposed location of Alexander the Great's tomb has been a mystery for centuries. One theory places it in Alexandria, along the ancient Canopic Way, which was a major road in the city. The Canopic Way, known today as "Sharia Fouad" or "Rue Fouad," was the main thoroughfare running east-west through the city, connecting the royal quarters, religious sites, and key public spaces. I'm actually surprised they didn't make us discover his tomb in this game, especially with all the greek elements.

This is the part of the game where the difficulty really starts to ramp up. Also you really appreciate the advancements this game added to the then aging game engine. One thing that stumped me about is game compared to the others is that I thought I'd I enter a new area with a load screen everything I would need to progress would be in that area. Nope. You go in this area, do something, then back track to a previous area to do something else. It can be very confusing.
@Raidercast2 ай бұрын
Definitely lends itself better to a game with no loading screens! Thinking everything is cut up into different levels really didn't help the 'going back and forth between areas to find the way forward' mindset.

This hub really shows the level of imagination and desire to achieve something greater and more cinematic that Core had. What they achieved is very impressive considering the hardware constraints but the back and forth levels/loading screens is to its detriment really. It creates a level of confusion that just wouldn’t be there in a modern game with no loading.

There's a secret using the second rope and it's always a pain to get to that crawlspace on the left side. It's much easier to swing wide into the pool in the corner. The water avoids falling damage and you just bypass the second rope, if I remember right. I wander if Alfredo ever finds out that you can blown off skeleton's heads with a normal arrow with laser sight and they will start running around aimlessly. Many times they will just run off a ledge.

In my experience it's better not to hold down sprint on the rope, but really press it only when she's at the back. (Apparently it's a speedrunner trick? I always assumed it's the intended way to use the rope.) Her legs need to be on the rope for it to work, not hanging down. But hey, I think this is the most rope-heavy area? Congrats for getting all four tridents! I was kind of starting to think this area isn't that complicated until I saw you navigate all the way down to the Temple of Poseidon. Wonder if the game intends for you to go to Coastal Ruins and get to the Temple through entering the Catacombs the same way you entered them first? Oh, puns though. And there's still plenty of TR4 left, I imagine we're gonna get more puns yet XD

I think that's the sort of thing I must have done when I was younger and got so overwhelmed - entering the massive Alexandria hub and being able to go all the way from the train area through the town, to the ruins, and into some of those side-tomb areas and finding myself stumped as to where to go. Especially entering Catacombs and then proceeding right into Poseidon with no idea where to go. It's such a massive game! 😍

@@Raidercast Yeah, I don't remember entiering the Coastal Ruins for the first time but I know I was already checking walkthrough by then, because if it seems big to me now, it definitely felt immense when I was a kid, and I didn't have the knack for exploration yet either. The struggle in this level is real, the ropes, the poles, the skeletons.. the vases lmao. Loved it, can't wait for the next. I know it's too late for this info but there's 3 ways to deal with the skeletons: 1. explosives. 2. knocking them off platforms with the shotgun. 3. headshots with the lasersight. Last one won't kill them but they will run aimlessly without attacking you.

@@PuppyPiers The first time I did the catacombs and collected all the tridents, for some reason the game was not progressing (the water pit was not full, as if another trident was missing, but it wasn't). Turns out (after much frustrating walking back and forth and eventually reading comments on a forum) that I had left some skeleton unkilled somewhere and that was preventing the game to go on! Was it a bug or is it that you have to "neutralize" (even by headshooting them) all of them every time?
