Many bitter comments on wanting that tool. Easy. On Amazon, there are many options buying carburetors, for bolens, also, some comes with a whole package, many primer bulbs, gas lines included, etc, and some comes with this tool... Mine cost around 14 $. Well worth it. Just an idea.

One of those China buys and ship. Waited about 2 weeks, but got. I got tired of make shift stuff and to make something for carbs that differ. Them two screws are not all same. So I spent about 2 hrs total in 2 days narrowing down research of what exactly this tool is. That and shapes called. Started getting hits mainly at 5 bucks each. Dug some more till seen above price. I work on electronics so I can sniff a pebble out and find it.I will say for the simple person finding that tool is some what hard. Which is good because someone not knowing what such ajustment does and why should not be digging.

I hope they keep the adjustment screws. Many of the new ones, Stihl being the most notable, have the carburetors non adjustable. They run reasonably well, but any change in barometric pressure, humidity, temperature, or even the blend of gasoline makes a difference to the running mixture. I live in Utah, at 4,000 feet elevation. Everything I own, with a non adjustable carburetor, run rich. Both 2 cycle and 4 cycle engines. My Echo leaf blower has low and high adjustment screws, and it runs fantastic. I rich it up just a bit in the winter, then, lean it 1/8 turn or so in the summer. I won't buy any 2 cycle engine, without being able to adjust the running mixture. I'm also able to dial in both my chainsaws.

Great video. I was about to rebuild the entire carburetor then tried this and it worked! Awesome. And, if you don't want to buy the tool you can just use a hack saw to make a slot on the top of the adjustment screw and then use a flat head screwdriver to adjust it (once its got a slot on the head). I got that idea from a different video which I'm sure is easy to find. Nothing to it though. Thanks very much for this video.

The thing is there are Different types of adjusting screws for the Low and High Mixtures on all 2 stroke machines. There is the Large Pac-Man head screw, the small Pac-Man, The D=-Head, The Double-D Head. There are the Splined-Head screws and there are even some Hex head screws on some of the carbs now. You can buy a 7 piece tool kit that adjusts all of them on ebay.

Hi I have Poulin P3314 . pull rope is very hard to pull .If I take spark plug out .I can Pull easy. can you help me what to do to fix .thanks
@HomeGaragechannel
@HomeGaragechannel 3 жыл бұрын
Sure. Remove spark and place it in the hole without threading it in. Leave a slight gap so air can go out. Then pull the rope several times and it should blow out any fuel or oil out of the gap around the spark plug. Then thread the spark plug in about 2 turns and try pulling it again. Of it still stuck repeat the process again.

Good work..it's mostly an issue of the carb loosing functionality. After that it's due to the engine beginning to wear to a point that at the tune will not work for a worn engine.

Looks like there are ports for two adjustment screws, but is there only one screw? My craftsman has two screws and it is only a year old and I couldn't get it started the other day. I cleaned the carb real good and the fuel filter still looks pretty new but I sprayed it real good too. Now it will start for a brief second while choked then quickly dies and will not start again no matter what setting the choke is on. I just watched another video which was for a craftsman that shows it as a "Pacman" shape. I'll have to check that when I get home today. But I'm hoping that works once I get the tool. Any other ideas or advice?

Hey believe it or not I actually just ordered a Bolens BL160 straight shaft trimmer from MTD, but I got it for 65 bucks! I think it is a decent trimmer although I had to make a slight adjustment on the carburetor because it was bogging, but other than that I think it will be a good trimmer for anyone if you winterize it. I do also have a Echo SRM 225 I bought a month ago. Also like the Bolens has a Walbro carburetor. Someone told me it’s a great carb to have. Is it?

Thank you for the comment. Does the fuel cap have a vent in it or is the vent coming out of the tank like on an echo trimmer? If it's in the cap try replacing it. If it comes out of the tank try replacing the vent. Otherwise replace the whole carb.

yes water could do that, easy fix though, dump the old fuel, mix up new and add it to the tank. Press the bulb least 10 times and that should exchange what was in the lines and carb with the new stuff in the tank. If that doesn't work, then you've got "a lot" more diagnosing to do. Good luck .

Mine has been sitting for years with fuel in the tank. I replaced with fresh fuel and it would start but only run for a second and only after hitting the primer. At one point it ran for 10 seconds but started dying as soon as I added throttle. I also noticed the fuel line coming out of the tank is about to come apart. There was also a decent amount of smoke coming out of the exhaust. I’m wondering if the carb is also dirty or I added too much 2 stroke oil. The carb looks very clean though

easier way is drill a matching hole opposite the existing. Pin holes on the screw heads then make a driver with a twisted peice of wire or by grinding an old screwdriver into a two prong driver. It eliminates the need for tbe sleeve around the driver
