I picked up a 2003 TE610E with weak spark. It had the flywheel replaced and stator rewound. Ended up putting on DC CDI from a Chinese pit bike. And she fired straight up. Looks like the rewound stator was bad.

Hey! Im really struggling with my husky Can you help me how to diagnose which part is not working? The stator doesnt seem to be damaged, and I really cant afford to just buy new parts and play around. What is a good gap for the ignition sensor?

Hey! Workshop manual says that You need a special tool for setting pick-up coil clearance from flywheel. Thy do not mention gap measurement but they say that pick-up coil needs to be as close to special tool as possible, so that pick-up coil does not rub against tool if You rotate the tool. From that I assume that the tool mimic that raised part (trigger) on flywheel that passes pick-up coil (when rotating) and gives it "signal". Shortly - move it as close as possible, so that flywheel does not hit it. You can do it by turning flywheel to a position where that raised part on it (trigger) is where pick-up coil is. Then find one spot on engine case that is preset on both - engine case and alternator cover, as close to pick-up coil as possible. Then measure distance between that point and the tip of the pick-up coil on alternator cover. Take same measure between the point and trigger on flywheel. Adjust pick-up coil measurement so that it is SHORTER 0.3-0.5mm. If You put alternator cover back then before trying to crank engine with starter, try to turn engine over by hand. You can do it if you remove that little round cover that is on the alternator cover. It's tightened down with 3 screws. Under that cover You can see flywheel bolt, turn from there with socket and wrench. I hope it helps You to solve the problem. Pick-up coils are sold separately. eBay helps.

Where do you find spare parts for it? I'm just asking because i recently bought a TE 410 (Model year 2000) and I just can't find anything aside from filters.

True, spare parts are hard to find for these bikes. But I've found some from eBay (.com; .co.uk; .de). Gasket sets and seals can be found even from Amazon. What spares do You need?
