Didn't work for me, but I did wonder why task manager had my CPU cores and threads at half of real values? UPDATE: now FIXED, Press: Win+R, & type in Open: 'msconfig', go to 'Boot' tab, then 'Advanced Options' tab, and ensure you untick the 'Number of processors'. this then fixed the number of cores and threads available in Task Manager for the above to work for me. I'm now running 55-99% CPU vs 100% constant and unplayable game play. I must have been running the game at 50% CPU power. 7700x RTX4090.

wow those CPU's are weak as hell compared to some of intels offering. Im not for team blue at all, but my 13900H laptop sat at 70-80watts and around 60-70% cpu usage. Its too for the cooling hopefully i can give some thermal space to the GPU. Didint expect a 7700x to be worse.

Sadly it looks like it used to work in the past, but currently doesn't. That's frustrating, I have a i9 12900 16C/24T and it always 100% usage even with low settings (it has nothing to do with graphics card, it's about the CPU game usage), so if I use higher graphic settings, sometimes eventually I get a pontual stuck, quickly, because with higher graphic settings, more processor will be used, and it's already 100% usage because of this bugged game, so....

UPDATED INSTRUCTIONS: Link to Download User.cfg , but you have to adjust the core count based on your CPU www.mediafire.com/file/99gwagn7y92d6j0/User.cfg/file In the folder where your Battlefield 2042 EXE is (default: C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2042), create a new file called User.cfg. (Mind that you have to turn off the "Hide extensions for known file types"- option in Windows Explorer to do this properly) Edit the new, empty, file and put this in: Thread.ProcessorCount (Your core count) Thread.MaxProcessorCount (Your core count) Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0 Thread.JobThreadPriority 0 GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount (Your thread count) Obviously you have to replace (Your core count) with the number of cores your CPU has available and (Your thread count) with the number of threads. For a 7600X that would be 6 cores and 12 threads. Beware that the game currently does NOT support morethan 16 threads (for some reason) and configuring more than 16 will get you an immediate crash on start-up.

The new update reverses this. The USER.CFG file is unaffected, but the update removed the GST.THREAD.MAXProcessorCount setting. You’ll need to add it back to the second file in the Documents folder.Hope this helps!

You should be good with 5800x3d. Try playing on higher resolution. Also in the start menu type system configuration -> boot -> advanced -> and check number of processors is unchecked or use the maximum available

You can go into task manager under CPU and It will tell you how many logical cores you have. Honestly its a very cpu bound game so you need a decent rig to run it without issues.

Make sure to name the file User.cfg with an uppercase U. Not sure what else you can do, but that's the best settings really. The game is poorly optimised hopefully will run better in future updates.

Your CPU is way too good for the graphics card, you need a stronger graphics card you'll get way better performance. 3060ti is good for 1080p. I wouldn't recommend playing 1440p on it
