Cheap labor is not what keeps prices on goods (such as avocados) down, especially since I’d wager to guess a majority of avocados are not harvested in the US, but rather overseas; what dictates prices of avocados and such other items are the costs of buying wholesale from other countries who are primarily a labor economy, and the cost of shipping these goods.

The biggest problem that I saw from the news was that all of the illegal people who went to New York were given the paperwork that counted them as asylum seekers. They got here before sending in the application, unlike any truthful applicant would be required to do, and lived here rent free while the legally registered people had to suffer in their homelands before being flown. It's like going to an expensive hotel on a holiday that requires people to make registrations two years in advance but then people started showing up and cutting in line, writing their names in the guest book just in front of the people who were just about to get an invite.
