Thank you so much for this tip! My sensor went off and I was about to call a repairman because it didn't come back on even after I changed the filter. As soon as I removed and cleaned the sensor the unit kicked back on and hasn't stopped running. Now all I have to call the guy for is regular cleaning maintenance instead. Thank you!

We are on the second floor of an apartment and recently had this happen. Thermostat shutoff and it was the water sensor. Tech said there was a clog and he cleaned it quickly. We are having concerns in the aftermath of it being fixed with the air quality though. Both of us feeling quite poorly and suspecting the air quality. Although no water got on the floor and the shutdown was resolved 1-2 days later, is there any possibility that whatever contributed to that clog could have mold etc being circulated through the system?
@dustinshomesolutions Жыл бұрын
Chamer84 , Great ? But not likely , it’s in drain line , Here in Florida cause the a/c pretty much runs all year round We have a lot of drain lines back up … start putting vinegar down once a month ( 2 cups ) to eat away sludge & prevent sludge build up … hope this helps !!!

If you find junk in the sensor line can you blow it out with C02? Thanks
@dustinshomesolutions6 ай бұрын
Hi , Some people do blow out drain lines with CO2 !!! I used to when I lived up north !!! Just make sure you do it from inside 2 outside ( might need a rag - to prevent air /water/ sludge going back into unit or sensor - causing a false reading !!!) ( its probably wise to have Shopvac going outside so sludge goes into it - we once did it down here in Florida without shopvac - Sludge spit all Over neighbor’s house ( we definitely learned our lesson ) !!! Hope that helps !!!

Just to be clear, should the red light be on or off if the sensor is working properly?
@dustinshomesolutions6 ай бұрын
Hey Andy, It should be not lit when it isn’t detecting a water back up !!! When it detects water on sensor , it lites up red !!! *Sometimes this happens where there can be a false reading !!!( where a piece a sludge or a drip of water hits both sensors inside & trips it ) Hope that helped answer your ? Thanks Dustin

Thanks for the video. Couldn't find any other videos with this sensor instead of a typical float valve. Do you think its possible for this sensor to go bad?
@dustinshomesolutions Жыл бұрын
Hi Briznor , Yes , the thin cord can break inside , especially if you don’t unhook black connection before twisting wires … Best to unhook black connection, than untwist to clean off sensor .. hope this helps !!! Also I believe you can buy the wire & sensor separately to save money
@Briznor Жыл бұрын
@@dustinshomesolutions thanks for the quick reply, this absolutely helps. Do you know where to purchase the replacement sensor? I've definitely twisted it off without unplugging first before. Going to try and clean it now as you suggested
@dustinshomesolutions Жыл бұрын
Usually you can purchase it on Amazon ( look for options ) cause I think you can buy separate parts if worth it !!!

I dry mine and even doing that appears the red light. If i disconnect the cables light dissapear. But with just connect it back appears. Can be that the sensor is damage? Because is totally dry.

Hey Ricky , Great ? There is a 5-10 min delay !!! And if after 10 mins it does shut off red light ( unplug over night ) but make sure drain line won’t back up - aka Shopvac if needed from outside !!! Now outside that yes those sensor white wires are brittle & do sometimes break - And will need to be replaced if that is indeed broken !!! Hope that helps !!!

Is there anything that needs to be turned off before removing the lid and sensor?
@dustinshomesolutions5 ай бұрын
Hey Adriana , Sorry for delay !!! Nope , If it is same sensor as in video Once you pull apart black prongs , Sensor will not work ( but unit will still work ) If it’s a pvc sensor that lifts out of pvc pipe ( once you lift up - unit should come back on) They key to all of this - is making sure pvc pipes have no water backing up in them !!! Hope that helps !!! Dustin
