I got a little damp spot in my A C over flow pan. Of course where the sensor was. I was drying the material, and got a tingle of electricity. Is that normal Never felt that before. It was put in in 2004. Does it need to be replaced?

For this kind of control, it typically runs in 24volts which is considered low voltage. That's probably the tingle you felt. You should not have felt that. I would replace that control if it gave you a shock. Thanks for watching & stay tuned for new videos every week🔧⚡️

The wet switch flood detector is a safety device that should shut off the condenser unit only , and should not turn off the entire system , only when the AC unit is working in AC mode, the wet switch sensor is connected to the same secondary power supply of the furnace , the relay contact common ( green wire) of the wet switch sensor should be connected to the yellow wire coming from the condenser unit , and the orange wire normally closed from the wet switch sensor to the other yellow wire coming from the thermostat in this method the wet switch sensor breaks the 24 volts to the outside unit contactor only, and the constat 24 volts to the furnace is not interrupted . What happens if for some reason the device got damaged , it could happen two things , one the defective device could blow a fuse from the fan controller board, two the defective device is preventing the path of current from the secondary power supply to the furnace igniter board , that's why the manufacturer installation recommendation is not the best way to install the wet switch sensor , we only need the device to shut off the unit when is running in ac mode only , and make sure the furnace or indoor unit is in working condition for the winter season .

5:05 YOU LEFT OUT THE WHITE WIRE from the wet switch. Once the Orange is connected to the T-stat Red, the White from the Wet Switch goes to the R terminal on the board. Nobody in the comment section caught it, LOL.

@@DPMechanical1 white can be used for the alarm then a wire from the alarm needs to go to R terminal to complete the circuit and cut the power when the Alarm is activated. Mine has no alarm, the WET switch just shuts the unit down. Mine at home is exactly how i stated in my post from a month ago. Works perfect.

@@harrynut3044 White should be capped off if not used with optional alarm. If it is connected to alarm, than other wire from alarm should be connected to common, not red, otherwise it will not alarm.

@@officerkrupke4966 If you cap off white, there is NO WIRE to go back to the board to complete the circuit. Once again, i am speaking about using the switch without an alarm. Wire it anyway you like, wire in 10 alarms. My original post is accurate, as well as my post how i wired mine in WITHOUT an alarm....but what do i know...I've only been an HVAC service tech for 28 years. This is a conversation not worth having.

@@harrynut3044 You basically parked the white wire to the R from transformer. Luckily you didnt park it to the common, or you would blow the transformer or fuse everytime moisture was detected. This is basic electricity.
