That’s quite a collection of weirdness! I think I’ve mentioned it before, but the weirdest one I have is the SOG Switchplier. Unless I count a couple weird Swiss•Tech tools that I keep in a kit just as backup tools for industrial grade cameras. They are pretty weird… handy, but weird, and not very pocketable… at least not in the conventional way. It almost seems like all the makers say: “I’m bored with conventional, what can we do that’s way out there and different from what everyone else is doing?” 😁

Very true! Victorinox is pretty conservative in their design but even they made that very odd auto tool!

On the weird I have the kelvin 36. My office multitool (it has pencil sharpener, paper punch, scissors, measuring tape, stapler ...) The Mejix which is similar to your Kobalt Nextool Gemini My Bivy clone because just like your SOG I have a BGS hammer mallet bit driver An hammer ratchet driver with a few bits and sockets. Other than that Nothing very weird but some of them are quite unique

It looks like the tooth brush should be carried internally, on that second inner peg, with the bristles facing down.

Wow I never seen MT's with brushes, in a way I do like the idea, in the other I don't. I think the good thing is that some multitools should kind of focus on getting moduarity. Some models like the surge or the roxon phantom to have inresting modularity but it's not that well exploited ... I do like the idea of getting a brush mostly for metal but also to clean some things like air vents just removing some bits of dust that are a bit stuck and out of reach. So you might guess that I work as an HVAC tech, and the thing is to me I kind of like having a super compact set mostly when working in heights. Though so far I think there is a problem with the multitool world in general it's the fact that most specialized tools seems to lack of certain basic things. And for example to work on electricity I would like to get insulated MTs for example, so you can do electrical work without getting to the tool set. For plumbing I would like to get a pipe wrench based one I also would like to see something that inludes all the things you find in those cross type of key MT as a modular thing because the cross tools they have many problems, and they ether can have reach problems with their tools or there is simply not the ones you need and getting something similar to a bit driver with those might solve a lot of problems IMO mostly if the kit is complete.

Do any Leatherman models come to mind for you? I love the Flair, I don't think its weird, different though. Can you do me a favor and check the inside handles of your Surge. My used black oxide Surge arrived in the mail. Its very cool but there's no four digit month and year code. If I find something out, I'll let you know. I'll email Leatherman. Its a little hard to see on the Waves but they're definitely marked. I'm sure there's some explanation, I'm just carious.

Sure I can check the Surge. As far as odd Leatherman's some think the Tread is odd or Leatherman has made many one piece tools that are for surfers or skateboarders and those are odd and interesting. The Leatherman Leap with it's plastic handles and replaceable knife blade was certainly very different for Leatherman. But Leatherman doesn't have a bunch of odd tools really.

Quite a bunch of weirdos there are! But regarding #6 I have to disagree: I find the Professional /CAS Hanwei to be quite e capable pair of shears, and whereas I do agree that the pliers are pure crap, the idea with the file is good. The smaller implements work OK. Since the frame Is pretty sturdily build, this is a great base for modifications. I changed the blade for a Havalon PIRANTA Holder and also changed the useless saw for a diamond-coated one. The pliers were removed within half a minute. And then I plan to put in a T-shank holder instead where the pliers were. Voilá - quite a good thing!
