Good job explaining some of the variables involved. There is a lot of differences even in locations that are close to each other and for the majority of installations professional help from contractors that are extremely knowledgeable is important. One problem with that is that it isn't easy to find the very good installers in certain areas of the country. I would have liked to hear more about thermal earth batteries that use summer sun to heat a fluid that is circulated deep into the ground which is then extracted during the winter. Another topic would be large (200 gal or so) buffer tank that is heated with 1) thermal solar or 2) wood or 3) heat pump (from solar electric perhaps) or 4) gas/propane (as a last resort). Tank should be sized according to how long you might expect it to have to heat your living space. And, why is America seemingly last. Example, many heat pumps sold in the US use R410A refrigerant which is being phased out. Whereas CO2 and Propane refrigerants are widely available elsewhere. JMHO. Thanks again for the video.

Hi there, Thank you very much for commenting on the new switchgear video. I thought it was a great comment. Unfortunately, I had to do a re-upload. If it doesn't cause too much inconvenience, it would be great, if you could copy paste the comment to the video: "Are western governments banning SF6? That would inhibit domestic manufacturers from using it for their products and it would force foreign manufacturers who wish to export to the west to not use SF6. I hope his product catches on and having SF6 banned would be helpful. I don't know what SF6 status is." This is the link to the new video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6TQooF3gNereqs Thank you in advance, Katharina

As an HVAC engineer I can't tell you how much I appreciate you using the term ground-source rather than geothermal. Most of the people I run into use the terms interchangeably which is not _technically_ correct, but everyone knows what you're talking about. Unless they're from up north (I'm in SoCal) and know what geothermal really is! Then there's confusion. It's a great way to do things if you have the right soil conditions and funds, but those are two very big ifs!

Yes, it’s a great point. It is tricky with content creation, because a lot of people are more familiar with the word geothermal, but you also don’t want to bore the informed people with terminology. It’s important to me to stay factually correct and yet be entertaining. Thank you for watching and commenting! 🙏

@Net Zero Tech, Thanx for eastern Massachusetts seasonal load graph at time stamp 5:59, I will be lowering switchover temp next heating season from 40°F to 30°F for my dual fuel (air HP/ducted gas fired) system. Info so helpful. Next big step for my system will be Summer cooling here on Cape Cod. You’re doing great job and service!

You are very welcome! Glad it was useful. 😀 I was wondering, if I should do more localized content. It's always a tradeoff. What are your thoughts on the cooling system? Let me know if you want to present anything on the channel. Thank you! 🙏 Katha

One on the best video about heat pump. This year I will implement this hybrid system both for the air-water, air-hot water and air-air pumps with which I heat my house.

Hi @user-ry7yg2hk7i. Thank you. You already have multiple heat pumps in your house? Thanks, Katha

Video starts at 4:05 Video assumes what avg air temps are in your location so you need to check to make relevant to you. Summary: Air source heat pumos are equally efficient at +10C and at +4C ground source starts more efficient and the lower the outside air gets the better they are. No sources are provided... so... if you are trying to size/design a system there not even starting point to compare these numbers. P.S. For the love of god... BLINK WOMAN!

Hi, Thank you for the comment. 🙏 That’s interesting und helpful. I’ll provide more sources and hands-on calculations in the future. Let me know if I can help with a specific use case. 🙂 Katha

@@NetZeroTech you know what I really miss? Or at least have not found yet? Heatpump comparison table: max btu/h total best case scenario kw heating and cooling performance; number of heads supported by a unit. Samsung DVM S provided a lot of data but the I started looking at local reps... its a mess. Usually there are like a couple numbers provided with no context

Thank you! 🙏 Very helpful. I put it on my list of video/resource ideas. It may take me a while to research and execute on it and ideas from my paid Patreon members come first, but I this is something that I'd also be interested in and potentially other viewers. Thank you! 🙂 Katha

@@NetZeroTech I did a bit of calculation based on weather station's historic data for the duration of heating season (2023-09-01 to 2024-05-01) and out of 5855 hours in that period 4470 were under +10C (76.35 percent) and 2898 were under +4C (49.49 precent) I looked at the comparison of geo and air pumps in research paper (Spatial assessment of the Ground Source Heat Pumps suitability against conventional heat pumps based on Superficial Air Temperature) and shows that Air heat pump efficiency is almost linear which would make integral comparison of total efficiency gain fairly easy... how how does efficacy map to power consumption... I think there something missing. What I am trying to get is an estimate between solar generation in winter months and power consumption in kWh of a heating system.

Great questions! I may have touched upon that in some of my other videos and would love to cover it in more depth.

Interesting topic. It’s makes sense that ground would lose temperature as the heat is drawn out.

There is no cost effectiveness if the ground source isn’t used much… up front cost is far too large. Air source works great for us in cold Canada.

@@NetZeroTech Its a great video, I thought it may have been AI assisted because the editing is so good. Maybe you should consider that? It would probably cut down your editing time drastically. Although I'm not a youtuber so I have no idea what I'm talking about in terms of producing videos. I have seen some AI tools that are open source that can train with your voice and all you have to do is write the script and magically your voice is talking uisng a 'You' avatar. When I come across it, I'll DM you.
