"Each year when the Hydrangeas bloom, I am reminded again of their stunning beauty. Hydrangeas are one of my favorite plants because they’re so versatile. You can enjoy them indoors as a long lasting houseplant and them shift them outside and enjoy them as a flowering shrub for years to come."

My hydrangea has been blooming for a couple of years since. I bought her. Luckily she blooms in the Spring! Unfortunately it was white and now it is pink. Like all my flowers range from red to coral to varied shades of pink.

I once asked my brother-in-law how he kept his hydrangeas such a lovely blue. He ducked his head and mumbled that he peed on the soil around them. I can still recall my sister's facial expression.

P. Allen Smith is my go to gardener. I've watched his show for years & love every episode. I have just received my very first Hydrangea from my husband for my birthday. It's a Pinky Winky Panicle Hydrangea. First place I went to to learn about the care of these beautiful plants is P. Allen Smith gardening. Great video! I learned a bunch & enjoyed a few laughs! Thank you Allen & staff! Thumbs up! :):)

Very informative and entertaining, too! I thank the lady who asked about her Vanilla-Strawberry panicle hydrangea. That was helpful because I have one also, which I planted in memory of my late father who loved vanilla ice cream topped with strawberries:)

I have a couple different types of hydrangeas and my advice for people who live in cold regions (I'm in zone 4) and also if you have deer that eat your hydrangeas is to get the Panicle types. I have a vanilla strawberry that's about 4-5 years old and the deer eat every bud off that thing every winter and it blooms faithfully every year without fail! Our winter's get down to at least -22°F. They are very carefree plants; all I do is trim them and feed them some organic fertilizer every spring and they reward me with the most amazing blooms every year!

I adore hydrangeas. My late mother-in-law used to tell me to bury a rusty key or nail near the root of the hydrangea to make it go blue. is that right? I love these KZbin vids. Mr Smith is wonderful. This was very educational. I have a quite a large collection of hydrangeas. The only one I don’t have are the arborescence or smooth hydrangeas. I don’t care for the very large blooms which makes them flop. I use the rose tone to fertilize them & they do well.

I had 8 hydrangeas in front of my house. They were 4ft tall and cone shape white flowers Every year and the flowers were gigantic. We put tomato cages on them when the leaves just started to come out. They were so big and beautiful and you couldn’t even see the cages. Towards the end of summer we had to tie them. We cut them back to about 12” in Sept. I had cut flowers all summer. (Little giants)

Sandra, I was out in my front garden getting ready to cut back a couple of shrubs and one of them started wiggling! When I touched it - it just fell over! Something had eaten all the roots off. Finally figured it was one of the moles in my yard. I wonder if that is what happened to your bush. Some mole or gopher dined off your shrub's roots. I was told to make a circle collar out of metal or even foil and put it a couple of inches into the ground around my next shrub and I think it worked. The neighboring shrub survived. Hope that might help you, too. HUGS

Well geeze Allen I've watched your garden shows for a few years now and have always found them to be so informative and educational with tips in the garden. But this one I happen to tune in and I heard the answer to an on going problem that has plagued me and many others for much too long now and you just off the cuff thru it out there while demonstrating the different types of hydrangea. The tip had nothing to do with gardening but rather what is added to make or keep home made pickles crisp and crunchie. And the answer is ( drum roll ) lol ALLUM! I was like wow, of all the times i've experienced different things to keep cucumbers crisp but to no avail. Yes soggy limp pickles in the end every time that tasted good but yes, limp and soggy lol! Love your channel , thanks for the tip!

I grew up seeing P. Allen Smith's segment "From the Garden" on TV. Now, in my late 30s, having just found his channel by happenstance this week, I feel like I have been reacquainted with an old friend. My childhood included years on a small organic farm, and young adult years included landscaping and nursery work, but over the last decade, I have not had an opportunity to garden or connect much with nature; I have missed it. However, I am soon heading back to country living and have found this veritable treasure chest of content just in time for garden inspiration--and maybe even heritage poultry! Thank you, Mr. Smith for your truly invaluable work and contagious spirit. You are a true American gem.

Hi Mr. Smith, thank you so much for sharing this wealth of information about beautiful Hydrangeas. I love Hydrangeas, and one in particular is the one that my Granny had in her yard. Since she has passed away, my Mother and I dug up her Hydrangea from her yard, moved it from Tennessee to Indiana, and we each have planted a portion of it in our own yards. I will lovingly use the information that you shared to care for my very special Hydrangea. My Granny's Hydrangea is a sweet reminder of her, and prayerfully it will grow in both my Mom's yard and my yard. Thank you again. *I smiled when you mentioned that you had been in Elkhart, Indiana. I grew up there, and now my husband and I live in Indianapolis. One of my dreams is to one day see you in person, and/or visit Moss Mountain Farm. Thank you again Mr. Smith. Sincerely, Paula from Indianapolis

Ok so I bought the Endless Summer Hydrangea and was so happy. I followed directions and planted it in a pot. After doing so, it was on the NW side although party shaded, but seemed to need water frequently from the heat. I moved the pot to a more shady spot, but it’s ETX and temps have been 100. I’ve watered daily and it’s still sad and wilted in the evening. Two days I planted it in the ground and used the hydrangea food, watered it in and it’s on the east side and sad. It’s been in a pot until I just put it in the ground. Should I put it back in the pot? I’m stumped 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
