Susan, is it possible to have acne from dry skin? I have combination skin and when i went to the derma she prescribed a strong moisturizer for my acne which i found strange. True enough, when i use a heavy moisturizer on my acne it does clear up though not totally. How does this happen? Also, i live in a tropical country so heavy moisturizers can be too much esp when i start to oil up 😩

The skincare queen has spoken 🙌🙌 I love the Belief True Cream Aqua Bomb for the spring and summer when I tend to get oilier. However this moisturizer has Alcohol Denat at the top of the ingredient list. I read that it could damage your skin over time. Is this information correct?
@SusanYara
@SusanYara 4 жыл бұрын
Safia Muftic It’s a great question and I touched on it a little in the video. If you speak to dermatologists, some will say they don’t like it because it can break down your skin barrier over time. If you speak to formulators, they’ll say there’s usually a good reason for it in the product (stabilize ingredients, it works as a solvent, the products evaporates faster, etc), so it’s tough to say if you should avoid it or not. I think if you have sensitive skin, then avoiding ingredients you know will irritate you is important. Otherwise, as long as there are hydrating ingredients in the product, they’ll counteract any negative effects of drying alcohol.

Love how the reasons you give at the beginning, such as companies using the two terms 'interchangeably' being the reason people get confused. You overlooked the basic one, which is that the two definitions are extremely close. For instance, by hydrating you skin, you are in fact moistening it. I believe that is the reason any intelligible person might get confused when these two words are slapped on a box and marketed as separate products.

Some moisturizers tend to leave a little film in the skin but if its sitting too long and doesn't look like its being absorbed at all then its over moisturized. There' a limit to how much hydration and moisture our skin can take/absorb. Or maybe, just maybe its the product itself that has a problem

When you stated that moisturizer gives OIL to skin and stays on top of it to prevent evaporating of the INSIDE hemuctant. Seems like when water ''from OUTSIDE'' is applied to a skin it unable to have direct contact with skin just touching the moisturized layer and what more to penetrate into skin. Feedback is highly apprreciated.

I LOVE!!! Shea butter! I melt my shea butter with coconut oil in a pot and then while it's lose and watery I mix it with some vanilla extract and tea tree oil and then let it cool off. When applying to skin it's helpful to rub it in your hands to melt it instead of trying to apply it dry, you know? And also put it on straight out of the shower while your skin is still damp!

So glad you went into this, I have been very confused about all of this. I've been using Murad products. I was wondering what you think of those products. I feel like they work well, but I don't know much about this subject so I'm open to suggestions. If you have suggestions about a brand that's great and comparable in price, I'm all ears. I have a dry and dehydrated skin type. I started using Murad because I got a lot of spots on my nose and cheeks during pregnancy, and lost a ton of hair after I gave birth, but I digress. Pregnancy wrecked me. Please help me.

What's the difference between an exfoliator and a moisturizer? Or is exfoliator the same as hydrator?

I love Klairs Supple Toner for hydration and other benefits. Is this Klairs toner a Hydrating product or just PH balancing and moisturizing? Same question about another product you have talked about. The Vit C Juice Drops by Klairs. It seems very hydrating and says it works well with Vit C but other videos talk about Vit C and niacinamide not being used together, but I have not had any irritation using it after Vit C serum. I love the way it looks and feels on my face.

Hi Susan. Please I need your help. Am a breastfeeding mom. I got a lot of pimple marks from my pregnancy and recently my skin also became very dry because of the winter. What product can I use to remove the pimple marks and to make my face smoother? Thank you.

Hi Susan I just found your channel and I love it! I have no skincare routine. I will only use vegan products. I don't know where to start 🤔 The products I've tried to moisturize always make my face itch. Is there any type of list like first moisturize second etc. I'm so overwhelmed 😞

What are your thought on facial cleansing brushes? Like the ones that spin. I just bought one the other day, and can't decide if I like it yet.

Really like the video!! You should be careful though with these videos and be a little more transparent by mentioning in the actual video that it’s sponsored by belief and not just in the description box.

Cara Frey Thanks! The video isn’t sponsored by belif. It’a a placement, so I chose the topic and included them. I’m curious though, does it make you not want to watch a video if you see there’s a sponsorship?

Susan Yara hey, it doesn’t make me not want to watch it but I guess maybe for me even something like a placement where there’s any kind of brand negotiation involved is something that I personally like upfront. It’s not so much something being brand affiliated or sponsored as much as not being slapped in the face with it. It’s reassuring to feel like nothing is even slightly hidden I guess? Hope that makes sense and thanks for the clarification. Like I said, love your videos and wish you all the best!

You need to start having a skincare routine. It may feel/look fine now but not taking care of the skin from a young age makes your skin worse as you grow. Just start with a gentle cleanser, hydrating if you're dry skin. A good moisturiser and sunscreen is really important. Trust me, I had great skin as a teenager but I didn't take care of it and now I'm seeing the after effects in my 20s. If you want recommendations on what products to buy, just search up recommended products for your skin type on KZbin and do some research. Focus on the ingredients too. I recommend brands like The Ordinary, Cerave, cetaphil, la Roche posay

Start with a simple routine of cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen and be consistent with it, then you can add stuff later on. Exfoliating a couple of times a week is also important if you want natural glowy skin
